Andrew McCarthy Finally Asks The Big Question

The NY Times had a fantastic analysis of the rapidly dwindling number of Republicans in California yesterday, noting that the primary mission of the party nowadays seemed to be rooting out ideological heretics.

The cut-and-paste job above helps fuel that sort of paranoia.

:)

The time is now! Split what is left of the rusty heap and be done with it.

Yes, but what about Romney? Is he going to be part of the parting big tent party?

He gets no respect.

And you are a Great American.

Is it time for defenders of liberty to abandon the GOP? Yes. But not for the pants-on-head reasons reflected in that op-ed.

The GOP has become the Whigs of the 1850s, and fractured as the Whigs were.

It had to happen, cuz the Demokkkrats excommunicated all of its middle class voters from 1980 till now. These people joined the GOP to prosper but hate social controversy. In 2012 they are neither prosperous nor comfortable with the Tea Party. The idea of government bailouts and handouts appeals to them.

^^^^Facile Revisionism.

The hardcore haters in the Democratic party, virtually all from the Deep South, really hated the fact that they had to rub elbows with coloreds and suppress their innate racist tendencies.

When Saint Ronnie put out teh olive branch and told them to come spread their vitriol from the nuturing bosom of teh Republican Party...and most importantly to do so without fear of censure or retaliation, most of teh haters jumped at teh chance.

(this is where you say "but .... but...Robert Byrd!")

I think it's a great idea. Might be the perfect starting point to help us break out a solid 3rd party.

You dont get Southerners at all.

Hardly anyone was heart-broken when emancipation came along. In a single day the burden of cradle to grave Nigga Care was lifted from the shoulders of the South. Free everything for life vanished. And the Nigga has been trying to go back to Eden ever since.

Then mechanization came along, and all the rural counties of the South emptied of Niggaz in no time. Hunger forced them to flee to Northern utopias.

Southerners bolted to the GOP after Northern whites fled to the South to escape Sambo's nonsense and influence in the Demokkkrat Party.

The way I see it, the US could do with about five parties in order to reasonably represent most of the people. Social democrats/progressives, neo-libs, centrist conservatives (including many of today's Dems), libertarians and the clinically insane.

You'd need a new way to elect a congress for anything like that to happen though.

Are we trashing the First Amendment soon? Or are we going to go after Mormon-friendly government policymaking and government officials who have longstanding Mormonist ties?

So, what's your answer, vette?

Or, are you just gonna keep your partisanship pinned to the elephant assess the Party is and fantasize a statist like Romney leads you to Real Republican promised land?

I would love 5 parties :D however I'd be thrilled if it was actually a race between Romney Obama and Johnson. I can understand why congress and some of the die hard party liners prefer the status quo but I just keep hoping enough Americans see the need for a better division of power, especially after the last few years, when it's looking more and more like compromise is a thing of the past.

They moved to Oregon. ;)

There is such a way, actually.

For more, see this post.

Yah, I know. All the elections I get to vote in works with different variations of that.

Pro: more parties
Con: more party line politics, although lately in the US, that's a moot point
Pro: less personality/more policy focused campaigns
Con: less clear majorities
Pro: less risk of polarization
Con: no local representatives, no 'your guy' in parlament
Pro: no clear incentive for pork
