I was at one of those screenings and the horror is soaking through.

If I had been there I would have done my best to kill him when he was armed. Once he's down, either I believe in decency or I don't.

As is made a point in the movie, ironically and part of the horror, is the fact that vengeance is different from justice, and holding onto compassion is what is the main difference between the type of person who shoots the innocent, and the type of person who defends the innocent.
