This is a little negative what if game....

Brazil and China, both these growth economies don’t grow in 2012, and the end of the year American corporations (99%) report very little profit if any. China no longer is willing to purchase any American “debt”

What will America look like?

begin.....

Japan has puchased $220B of Treasuries over the past year and is about to over-take China as the single, largest holder of American debt.

Guess we should all learn to enjoy sushi more.

okay, keep this negative (towards the economy), lets say that they will not purchase any more and either try to sell of what they have or demand the US buys them back

Why don't we ask something realistic? Like what if Iran gets the bomb and nukes Isreal?

Brazil and China will grow, just like America is. There is no plausible way 99% of American corporations don't report a profit, and China (and Japan) will keep gobbling up US debt because other than Republicans, nobody doubts that America is filled to the brim with whoopass.

We all know that would cause financial turmoil.

here is my goal with this threat....and just think about it.

A lot of the goods and food we eat, come from places more than 200 miles away, if not 2000.

What if our money becomes worthless to the world....

Then we go isolationist and cry about it later. It's less likely than you getting super powers but it won't end the world. Can't we discuss the zombie apocalypse? They are equally unlikely but one's kinda fun.

I suppose we could all sit on the interwebs all day , every day, and whine?

Buy them back?

Treasuries don't come with a forced call-option.

Just buy more Hondas and Toyotas.

Are you and Sean an item?

He seems very keen on responding to your threads on hypothetical economic events that have very little basis in reality.

I was going to ask you the same exact question! You would be a better fit, NOT me

I'd still have my natural gas well.

I guess Arabs would have to go back to trading camels and Texans would go back to herding cattle.

Okay fine, time to go postal on you.....

What if Iran got their hands on a EMP over St. Louis, not sure the actual height but International Space Station height...

or what if Iran was able to put a EMP on the Space Station and blow it up when its over St. Louis

Do you mean an electromagnetic pulse resulting from a controlled nuclear detonation? If that happened, the power would go out.

Probably nothing. I doubt there is ANYTHING that isn't backed up off site at this point and EMP's don't work if the device isn't on but lets say they did. And that all the paper copies of everything were magically burned. It's the equivalent of what happens when a kid flips the table you're playing monopoly on. Disruptive? Yes. Annoying? Yes. End of world? Nope and if you weren't winning you might benefit from it.

Yes, Yes, and Yes.

Now, imagine how life would be!

Will people come together? Will there be civil war?

There would be looting until the power was restored, which would probably take a week or two. A dirty bomb detonated in a large city would cause far more damage.
