Who's gonna see it?

We're going to nerd out and go spend the day on Thursday and go to a local theater who will show the first two movies in the present series and then the release at midnight.

I'm probably still gonna cry when I see Heath Ledger.

I will be tired at work on Friday, but it'll be worth it.

I hope I used the right number of "nuh's"

Never liked any Batman movie and hated the comic book even more.

Well. That's a shame.

There are a lot of franchises I can't stand. I will kill anybody who tries to get me to watch "The Fantastic Four" again.

So I can sympathize.

I did like Tim Burton's Batman movies, though I thought the Penguin was inexplicably gross.

Would this be a bad time to tell you the theme from the 60s Batman TV series is frowned upon?

Anyway, I would love to see it. I bet it will be a kick ass movie.

Several days ago, Heath Ledger was the subject of controversy at the water cooler. Some saying it was not his best acting. I thought his role as the Joker was fucking awesome and can never be topped.

Another comic book I detested.

I will go on record to say that the X-men was done well. I think they captured the Wolverine character fantastically. I was very disappointed in the Storm character.

The only movie of Heath Ledger I watched and thoroughly enjoyed was a movie he played a knight. They say that he was awesome in Brokeback Mountain but the spirit of the Duke would not let me watch that movie.

The Wolverine character was great. The 'X-men Origins: Wolverine' did not do as well as some thought it should, but I loved it. Then again, I am prone to like rogue heroes.

Who frowns upon it? I apologize to them, but it's impossible for me to say "Batman!" with enthusiasm without thinking of the 60's theme. I can't even recall, much less hum or sing with enthusiasm the Dark Knight Theme. In fact I hated the music for the preview of the upcoming movie. It was loud and bangy and shrieky and it didn't let anybody talk and so I think at about 1 am this Thursday I might regret my decision to go. Bad previews make me sad.

Hm. I'm not sure I could say it was his best acting. It wasn't a very nuanced role, really. All he had to do was be random and crazy. Sure, he was good...but I think I might pick another movie for a good performance...something like "The Order" where he's not covered with smeared makeup.

I can't comment on "Brokeback Mountain" because I turned it off about 10 minutes in. They're supposed to be Cowboys and nobody taught those fuckers how to ride without pulling on a horse's mouth. Animal abuse. Off it went.

There are a lot of stuff I don't like. Generally I don't like Spiderman because I really, really hate the "I'm so important that I have to abandon you or you'll be in danger" melodrama bullshit. I've called it being "Spidermanned" for years, whenever someone uses that plot device.

The new movie out was suprisingly good in that it was human, not strictly for a 14-year-old boy's narcissistic fantasies, and I actually cried and laughed and was startled by things (it was in 3D) a lot.

I did like the X-Men also. I have always liked Nightcrawler and Alan Cumming was awesome.

A Knight's Tale! Great movie. Also because it had Alan Tudyk and naked Paul Bettany as Chaucer.

I definitely prefer the rogues with a sense of humor to the tortured, brooding ones. I think that's why Origins didn't appeal to me. No sense of humor.

I think you left out two nuh's.

I grew up reading 'Batman' comics, and wondered wtf were they thinking when they made the 60s show. Batman was never a goody two shoes crime fighter.

Ledger surprised me with how he pulled off being crazy in his role as the Joker. It was brilliant! I mean, I literally wanted Batman to kill his crazy ass. You just cannot top that kind of acting to convince the audience. Maybe there were other roles Ledger was excellent in, but I was never a Ledger fan.

I will never see "Brokeback Mountain".

Absolutely agree with your Nightcrawler assessment, Cummings is a superb actor.

Back to Batman. My favorite villain was the Penguin. Danny DeVito was so grotesque in a hysterical way.

You mean the parts where innocents were killed and some well meaning mutants died needlessly? And Wolverines brother was actually an evil person? Yeah. Wolverine avenged the right ones though.

I wasn't so much a comic book nerd, but I was comic book nerd adjacent and definitely read a lot of a friend's X-Men collection. But if a video game was nearby, I'd rather do that.

My husband Ulaven, however, is one of the biggest comic book nerds. He knows everything about everyone and watching movies with him is always fun. Even if I hate the movie (sometimes I do...)

So I've seen just about every comic-book inspired movie made. He's always right there with the backstory, trivia and funny stuff.

The 60's Batman was a beloved aberration. I think of it like "Rocky Horror" - yes, it's horrible, and I'd never watch it seriously, but the world is somewhat lighter of heart because it's there, no matter the intention.

I was a huge Ledger fan and I think the time I saw his Joker performance I spent most of the movie thinking what a huge loss and was distracted from the story. I still get apprehensive thinking about it, because I love the guy and he was really talented. I've avoided watching it since.

I don't like Batman very much so I'm with you. Kill him if it got him more screen time. I'm on board.

I like the movies. I just don't necessarily like Batman.

God, he was gross. I had to look away. He's like Fat Bastard. *shiver*

I dislike "crazy" as a reason for a character in general, so I wasn't impressed with Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman. But I did love the line "Sicko's never scare me. At least they're committed."

Halle Berry's Catwoman deserves a spit on the ground and not much else, though I have plenty of follow up abuse if requested.

Superheroes just don't get much sympathy from me unless their superpower sucks. Rogue qualifies. THAT SUCKS.

Seriously, what does Superman ever have to worry about? Smallville was unwatchable. My husband disagrees and I just had to leave the room because I get Smallville Tourettes and I spend the time saying "Oh come on!" or just starting to laugh and abruptly stopping. It's a burden.

If you're awesome and you know it, clap your hands and stop whining!

Michelle Pfeiffer in the cat suit was masturbatory fodder at best. The character sucked but so did the movie. If they wanted crazy they should of just given the role to Sean Young for authenticity sake.

have you read marvel lately?

they've managed to stick wolverine into every. mutha. fucking. story.

seriously, he's everywhere, he's on every superhero team, he pops out of every goddamn crack in the sidewalk.

ridiculous

That's part of what impressed me about Spiderman's remake. It wasn't about exploitive crap, it was really about real people. Real people and one bitten by a spider, but still. I think they made really good use of the fact that Spiderman is a specifically New York hero. They got the attitude and the location right. Gotham can't compete.

I was really disappointed in "Avengers" because I expected much more from Joss Whedon. He usually has humor and plot, but this was a bunch of pretty and brittle people punching each other a lot with ridiculous plot and ridiculous attempts at being "sciencey."

I think Joss probably wrote a much more interesting script but all the vulnerable of fun or humorous or caring parts got edited out because it didn't make superheroes look awesome enough.

I don't really expect that much from Batman and that's probably what I'll get.
