"Because it's there."

A weird shaped cloud, also known as Lenticular cloud was appeared above the Klyuchevskaya Sopka Mountain in Russia. It was detected and found by the radar of UFO enthusiasts in Russia.

The residents around the mountain were surprised when they saw a thing looked like a flying saucer, hanging in the air, around the top of the mountain. They thought it was a UFO because they never saw strange thing like that happened in the village.

The news about the strange object spread so fast by people there and reached every corner of the country in a short time. But UFO enthusiasts have to stop to investigate the object because it’s not a UFO, it’s only a unique cloud. Their interest turned to disappointment when they found out the truth.

“The sky seemed to open up suddenly, and this UFO-shape-cloud came out. I have been taking photographs for more than 10 years and that was one of the few times I have been amazed,” said Ivan Dementievskiy, a photographer who traveled there, and captured the unique cloud.

Around the rock and heading downhill at warp speed.

The Mt. Marathon race, perhaps the worlds toughest 5k.
That race has got to be hell on the knees.
With the season about to close, 44% of climbers on Denali have summitted.

Not too bad, given the weather this year, I guess. People have done winter ascents; I wonder if anyone has been or ever will be dumb enough to try a summer ascent.

That race is a 5k. With a climb to 3022' from almost sea level. They lost a guy on the mountain this year. Still looking for him. Otherwise, it's a great morning hike.

Summer and fall are not for the faint of heart.

Saw that. Horrible, especially on a mountain where millions of Europeans are constantly striving to outdo each other. Scary things, mountains.

Did you hug the ones you love today.

Did you change your underwear?

Yipes. That was one of those moments...where afterwards you're telling the story and no one quite gets the sheer terror except other climbers.

Yep, she's hot, but is this a smart thing to do? I don't see her carrying any extra gear. What about sudden weather changes and all that?

Please educate me, mountain men.

This is a 5km race with a 3000 foot vertical (up and down). People running the race seriously are up and down in less than 2 hours. No one is stopping to camp. It's not a real wilderness race like the Crow Pass Crossing where specific foul weather/survival gear must be carried. Mount Marathon is a nice afternoon hike.

What Thor said, and also, races like this are heavily supported by people hanging around at various points, handing out food and water and generally in radio contact with local rescue agencies--often it's those very locals who are stationed along the course--so the response is very fast if anything lousy happens.

This year was a bad one. One guy is still in the hospital after the race and another was LOST. Lost as in hasn't been found, yet (to my knowledge as I'm just back from the cabin and have been incommunicado for 2 days).

Oy! That's serious stuff. I hope the subject is found and healthy.

Unless he walked away and left for Mexico,etc.....

he's dead on the mountain. But, dogs haven't been able to find a body. He might be down in the alders and that's a place where the search grid needs to be about 20'. The Troopers have quit. The Seward fire dept is still looking.

I can't understand why he'd go down through the alders. Perhaps he got too tired and tried to go straight down? Nasty shit.

Postscript from the ADN.com:

"The family of missing Mount Marathon runner Michael LeMaitre of Anchorage is calling off its search after more than a week of continuously looking for him on the mountain.

KTUU says the Seward Fire department also has suspended its search over the weekend because of depleting resources and poor weather conditions.

The Seward Fire chief says small search teams will resume when conditions improve.

LeMaitre's son-in-law, Curtis Lynn, says the mountain is slick and becoming more dangerous. He says family does not want volunteers to continue risking injury.

Lynn says it was an "extremely hard decision" and the family doesn't have the closure it wanted.

The 66-year-old LeMaitre vanished during the annual Fourth of July race in Seward. "
