I come back into GB insanity to ask people where one can find copper to create a distillery? I know here in Florida Air condition units are being stolen for their copper (or were as I don't watch the news much).

The topic will be used for two stories, one for a moonshine type story and this info will be used to create and build a desalination pot.

This is a research question and not sure where the best place to post this type of question is, or if I should seek outside Literotica.

Any thoughts or ideas would be very helpful. Thank you

Please, don't be a dick. If you want to be an ass, please post somewhere else. Also, lets not destroy this thread with political bullshit.

Quit relying on other people for help.

It's bad enough you rely on food stamps.

They don't have copper tubing at Home Depots in Fla.?

I don't know. In the one story, Zombies take over the world and we have a group of people trying to survive. Going into town to the local Home Depots isn't safe as humans became hunted for food

Crackheads go under older houses and steal the copper water lines and recycle it for cash. Usually, this is rigid copper and I don't think it's prime use would be for a still. I think you want flexible copper line, which was sometimes used for refrigerator ice-maker connections.

The last place I saw flexible copper tubing run for any distance was for a direct buried water service line. Some of those aren't very deep. In Florida, they likely wouldn't be deep at all since your chance of frost is negligible.

I'd say the box building supply stores or a plumbing supply store would be your best bet for the type of copper tubing you'd likely want for your story.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for posting in my thread and with HELPFUL info! lol. I'm thinking 90% of the public utilities are pvc pipes, but I will ask around to some friends. Refig lines, that could work. Wonder how much or how many feet one needs to create a proper line for a distillery

Copper sheets for the boiler are available at most roofing-sheet metal supplies distributors in larger cities. But its cheaper to buy a working still from a legit still manufacturer. Stills arent illegal, sales of whisky are illegal. But you need a state license to make whisky for home consumption.

Stills cost about $1000. Then you gotta age the whisky in white oak barrels which cost about $300 each.

Here are some small stills for small amounts.

Let me see if I've got this straight.

You're writing a story about Zombies taking over the world, but you want to be certain that the passage on the survivors' procurement of copper tubing to make a still is accurate and authentic.

Alllllll righty, then!

The OP found the right board in the 'Story Ideas' section. The Story Ideas board is a great place to go for story ideas.

Solar water heaters have copper coils steal that.

Copper pipes are every fucking where, what ditzoid and the rest are blissfully ignorant of is the 'still.' It must be made of copper, too, and it cant be soldered.

This board has the greatest minds...as many would classify his or her self into. So what better place to come, than the GB where people love to talk.

Not really about being accurate, just looking for sources as to where one could find the necessary items.

Well, that is something I didn't know about being soldered. While most homes have Copper up north, very few have Cooper down here in Florida. Not sure if its due to the costs, sulfur, or what.

i was thinking How To.

Well true and thank you for the post. I will add it there too. GB has the largest mix of people so this is why I posted here. to bring it to the masses (knowing some would be asses - not you, I mean sean comment )

If you are looking for copper as plot device, the tubing you need can be found in an old house which had a refrigerator with an ice maker. Ice maker kits before the 90's were made copper tubing. The best source of a pot is a pressure cooker. Attach the condenser tube directly to the steam vent.

I would wait for a water company truck to hit a long lunch at the tittie bar and clean out the back of their truck.

Fittings. Tubing. Everything you need.

Thanks Bronzeage, I'm trying to think this through for the zombie story. Thinking about what people would need, how to try and make life as comfortable as possible. One of the first things that the group would have to solve, fresh water. Summertime is easy as we have daily thunderstorms.

So why not make a desalinization still?
