I'm partial to shakes. They can be enjoyed for a longer period of time than a cone.

that sounds tempting, but it's too fucking hot to go to dairy queen. my ice cream barely made it home earlier. it was squishy. luckily it didn't get all crunchy when it refroze.

i like my ice cream (non soft serve) in a coffee mug with a little milk and a spoon. sometimes rum goes well, in lieu of milk. depends on the flavor.

but cones make it awesome. i especially like the end bit on a cake cone. i can't really say why, but i find it satisfying.

also, biting the end off of a sugar cone and sucking the ice cream through the hole. yeah. i said it.

When I was in hs I worked at a Tasty Freeze type place that offered soft serve ice cream cones. One warm summer day a man came to the window and ordered five large chocolate dipped soft serve cones. When I slid open the window to hand him the fifth cone he threw the other four, now half melted cones through the window back at me and yelled, "This all melted into a pile of shit because you took too fucking long! " I hadn't realized that he wasn't handing the cones to people waiting off to the side. He was going to take them home. This thread brought back that memory. Good times.

I am a waffle cone girl, but I do like a great shake once in awhile.

It doesn't pay with me being lactose intolerant, but somedays it's worth it.

i'm lactose intolerant as well. you just gotta be careful what brand you buy. some have lactose, some don't. also, i used lactose free milk when i made my shake. yay me!

Apparently, I am not smart enough to look.:D

I honestly didn't know that....oh, man.

Yeah, three days on the head is a horrid way to spend the week.

sadly, there's not much to look for. it's mainly trial and error. i've read that if it says something like "milk solids added" then you should expect lactose, but i have no idea if that's true. i just eat it and see what happens. luckily my intolerance is fairly mild, so i can do that without worrying too much.
