This is sheer genius, expect to see the Democrats begin to advance the idea.

What really, really hurts Social Security is all of the citizens refusing to responsibly fund their retirements expecting everyone else to pick up the tab, so we need to mandate, er, uhm, I misspoke, we need to tax everyone not contributing to their 401K the maximum allowable amount that can be deducted on their taxes. Of course, the poor will not have to have a 401K because they will get the benefit of expanded Social Security benefits.

The beauty is that with all of that new money going into the markets, everyone's 401Ks will shoot up in value!



Then, since all of that new wealth was really unearned wealth, we can tax the 401Ks in order to expand Social Security Benefits to give retirees, orphans, widows and disable a decent living wage...



Then, their spending will drive business which will create new jobs, new 401Ks, new millionaires and new opportunity to expand Social Security and take care of those poor unfortunates who flock to America for opportunity and then their spending will create even more jobs.

It's just fucking perfect but you know those Republicans will hate it because they hate immigrants, women, children, the sick, the poor, the unemployed, minorities, clean air, pristine water, untouched forests, butterflies, puppies, kittens...,

I'd like to add to the health care 'mandate', since we as a nation are now totally involved in making government the total and final arbiter of personal responsibility. Since individuals are failing to defend themselves (and as such not effectively protecting their personal health care effectively enough), ObamaCare needs to be expanded to require every citizen to carry a handgun, or pay a fine... well, ok pay the associated handgun tax.

I think instead they should just eliminate the FICA tax cap and let everyone pay the 13% that they owe. This business of people making $150,000 getting a payroll tax break is stupidity and those CEOs making $5,000,000 should be paying 650,000 a year into social security.

Also, nobody making over $40,000 a year (from all sources) should be eligible to collect any social security benefits.

As to retirement:

Allocate tax credits for every dollar paid towards a domicile, retirement account, or other instrument of investment. At age 60 or whatever the assets are immune from taxation and released for consumption.

Restrict social security to bonafide cripples.
