Obama Care, How Will Be Judged On Thursday?

I don't need motivation lectures from you son. The court just did extreme violence to your liberty, the fact that you don't understand it is your shortcoming, not mine. You'll rue the day if this is allowed to stand.
What the Supreme Court actually did was to allow the violence to our liberty done by Congress to proceed.

The message is: "You elected them, they passed the bills that made the laws, deal with it yourselves. You got what you asked for."

Everyone is going to engage in housing and everyone is going to engage in eating and everyone is going to engage in education, so if you don't do ANY of these the way King George wants you to, he can tax you.

If you don't like it don't vote for Democrats.

^^^^Bitter AJ is very bitter today.

There was no violence (or anything else) done to your "liberty", drama queen.

A law was passed, signed and upheld that you don't like.

Get all your friends together (if you have any) and work to change it if you don't like it. The problem you'll find is, most people in America don't feel like you do. That's the risk of living in a republic.

If the GOP House keeps the status quo when the law is fixed.

Folks need to read the whole opinion before they climb out on the ledge. George Will says Roberts fucked Obama, and I agree. It truly is a major defeat for Liberals.
How is it a defeat for liberals?

Be more specific.

Can you clarify this?

Obviously, the IRS will put you in jail if you refuse to pay the penalty for not purchasing health insurance...

The penalty is not set up in a way that can lead to criminal charges, or even civil charges (i.e. seizure of assets, placing a lien of property). It can be withheld from tax refunds for those that get a refund, but that’s basically the extent of enforcement, you fucking drama queen.

I listened to a panel of judges and lawyers yesterday, who are of the opinion that the enforcement of the mandate/tax has no teeth. If they toss you in jail youre exempt from the tax-mandate.

I wanna look at the specific laws that apply to the ACA-IRS scope of work, to see for myself whats likely to happen. I imagine that enforcement follows the lines of the civil process, that is, the IRS can access your records to determine your worth, but if youre retired or head of household with dependents they may not be able to touch your money. That is, they cant impoverish you to pay for insurance.

The irony of this decision is that the incompetent Obama administration were too stupid to make their case, so Roberts had to show them how to best bamboozle the American people. Roberts has fucked up twice with major consequences for America, he'll stand right up there with Robert Taney in history.
Yes, they were incompetent, taking a shotgun approach... "let's fire broadly and maybe we'll hit something!"

But they did hit something; probably something they didn't even suspect would save their case.

Because I keep engaging with morons, and it hurts.

I know I ought to be out making a difference in the world, and here I am conversing with the likes of you.

It gives me the sads.

In Phase 2 of a discussion with Byron, we typically find Byron posturing that he's somehow "better" (smarter, wealthier, more handsome, wittier) than his opponent.

It's a classic homeskool defense mechanism.

While you're at it, could you come up with a plan to cancel out America's nigger amnesty policy? And who gave Pocahontas and her drunk-ass tribe citizenship?

Here's what Roberts sez:

In distinguishing penalties from taxes, this Court has explained that “if the concept of penalty means anything, it means punishment for an unlawful act or omission.” [citation omitted] (“[A] penalty, as the word is here used, is an exaction imposed by statute as punishment for an unlawful act”). While the individual mandate clearly aims to induce the purchase of health insurance, it need not be read to declare that failing to do so is unlawful. Neither the Act nor any other law attaches negative legal consequences to not buying health insurance, beyond requiring a payment to the IRS. (p. 37)

Seems to me what we got is an obligation to pay but no means to collect.

You just said it requires payment to the IRS. Therefore it has teeth.

Tell me what happens when you don't pay your taxes.

Several years ago I represented a company before the local zoning board. The company operated a junk yard and wanted to expand the business onto an adjoining parcel of land.

Plenty of people came to the hearing to object to the exspansion. All cited the junkyards fence as the cause for their opposition. The zoning board members expressed their intent to deny the zoning change application because of the fence.

I then made the board aware that no fence ordinance existed, and the fence would be erected anyway. And the fence was erected.

The board's lawyer confirmed that no fence ordinance existed.

Just peeking in to make sure America is still collapsing, and will disappear from the face of the earth during the second Obama administration.

Is suicide legal? Does anyone go to prison for attempted suicide?

Correction. John Roberts sez payment is required, and adds that there are no legal penalties for not doing it.

But there's an IRS penalty. And there are potential legal penalties for not paying the IRS.

Don't misunderstand my demeanor, the battle is far from over. The election is Romney's to lose. Let Obama run on this massive tax increase on the Middle Class, let him defend his lies of the past about the virtues of this monstrous assault on our liberty, now that Roberts has put the lie to his claims. This was a tactical defeat for sure, but we'll be more than happy to sweep the battlefield in November.:D
Yeah, well...

I think Romney's about as much a mannequin as Obama.

How the fuck is he going to benefit from this issue? He gave Obamacare to Massachusetts before Obama gave Obamacare to America.

He hasn't a leg to stand on.
