I've always found it funny how some liberals worship the guy when he stands for so much they normally disagree with (conservative moral values, anti-Communism, ethnic nationalism, traditional culture, etc).

So, should the DL be a right wing or left wing icon, or is he beyond politics entirely?

No, it doesn't, but that doesn't mean there isn't such a thing either. There are ways of looking at the world that can sometimes broadly be classified into philosophical belief systems.

I do agree, though, if leftist or liberal beliefs hadn't been concocted in the past few centuries there would be no need to even talk about "rightwing" as it would simply be the normal, common sense way of human thought. So, in that sense you're right.

I'm for gay rights...hell consensual adult incest is fine by me, I don't give a shit. But I think it should be left up to the states/individual communities to determine their own social rules, not the federal gov.

I don't even have cable, so I'm not sure how "Faux" News subliminally programs me (and calling it "Faux" News isn't typical internet partisan slur???). BTW, when I have seen Fox cable news, mainly in hotels, I usually become infuriated over its foreign policy positions.

I spent years during the Bush administration bashing the guy over his foreign policy. Most of the mainstream conservatives on here hate me. But, yeah, I'm a neo-con partisan.

I'm for animal rights, against "free" trade, moderately pro-environment, support private sector unions up to a certain point.

I have been influenced by Euro-nationalist parties like the Front National, or by Buchananism, but that doesn't mean I even agree with them on everything.

On the other hand, I don't deliberately take positions just so I can claim I'm "non-partisan" and "hate both sides equally." I admit I don't hate both sides equally, because even though they both suck, one sucks a lot worse then the other.
