Obama Care, How Will Be Judged On Thursday?

No, it didn't, actually.

You can have your income tax cut if you buy a Volt, or increased if you fail to buy broccoli.

But Congress has to OK the tax first. Obama dont get to pull the number outta his ass.

All Roberts did was give you a choice: Buy insurance or pay more into Medicare via a payroll tax. The House has gotta turn that language into legislation to define and quantify what tax, if any, to impose. It wont be ready by 2014.

We'll have a better idea of which way the cat jumped come November.

Sorry... but I have to post it here too...

"Fathom the hypocrisy of a Government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured, but not prove they are a citizen"

That's not hypocrisy....that's the government being in bed with big business to make more money off of you and anyone else they can nail for cash. They don't give a shit if your a citizen or not...

This is all D.C. gives a fuck about.....nothing else....they don't care about you or anyone else, quality of life, your welfare etc. They just want your money.

Huh? Maybe I'm missing something ...They upheld the law as is - so the taxes/penalties/fees/whatever are already determined. It's 2.5% of your income.

It's not hypocritical at all. Allow me to lessen your ignorance somewhat:

It's in the best interests of America to have everyone take at least some responsibility for their own health care, ergo, we have Obamacare with its carrot-and-stick approach.

It's also in the best interests of America to allow everyone who is eligible to vote, without artificial Republican-supported roadblocks like literacy tests, property tests, and/or voter ID tests.

Oh yes thank you Rob for that clear thinking and accurate assessment of what Obamacare is and how it is designed to work. Oh and your comments on "Republican" supported voter requirements are right on point. You sir are a genius and should run for Congress:rolleyes:

So when this forst started, it was called with PRIDE,

OBAMACARE

Then when polls showed it was not popular, the DUMZ said that it was RACIST and SLANDEROUS to call it,

OBAMACARE

Today they are all over TV calling it

OBAMACARE

They truly disrespect us

So the REPOZ are saying that

Obama will be seen as a TAX RAISER........BS!

and

That he will get a short term BUMP UP, but as the economic implications are seen, it will be a negative and he will lose in November.....BS.....

The economic implications are indeed dire....and will further constrict economic activity in addition to the act not providing what many think it will.....But there is a reason they pushed to 2014 the $$ aspects.....so peeps will just see the "GOOD" and not the bad....BIG WIN FOR OBAMA

OTOH....the BIG LOSER is Hillary.....who by most consensus was THE FRONT RUNNER in 2016 and seen as virtually unbeatable

As the HUGE negatives of OBAMACARE are felt, she will have NO CHANCE, and the DUMZ will have NO CHANCE

Dem Rep: Now Let's Unionize Doctors

Its not really about HEALTH CARE.....

ITS ABOUT TOTAL CONTROL AND DEPENDENCE

We ALL know that

Senate Republicans To Use Reconciliation In Attempt To Repeal Obamacare…

Go for it. Obama and the Democrats used reconciliation to jam Obamacare down our throats because they didn’t have the votes to pass it after Scott Brown’s Senate win.

Via Heritage:

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that Obamacare’s health insurance mandate is in fact a tax levied on those who do not purchase insurance, Senate Republicans will look to repeal the full law through the budget reconciliation process.

Reconciliation was used to push Obamacare through the Senate in 2009. Generally reserved strictly for budget-related measures, it eliminates the possibility of a filibuster, meaning Republicans would only need 51 votes to repeal that portion of the law – or even the full law itself.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) seemed open to that approach during a speech at The Heritage Foundation shortly after the Supreme Court handed down its decision. The court’s ruling “does present some options for us” to pursue more unconventional options for repeal, DeMint said. He mentioned reconciliation as a potential avenue.

A senior Senate Republican aide involved in the repeal effort later confirmed to Scribe that the GOP will use the budget reconciliation process in an attempt to repeal the full law, not just the portion requiring all Americans purchase health insurance.

While a repeal effort via reconciliation would only require a majority of senators to pass, Republicans will likely wait until next year to employ the tactic.

Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl (R-AZ) said he expects Republicans to use reconciliation in the repeal effort during the 113th Congress. Kyl is not running for reelection.

Well Romney now has a good and proper bloody shirt to wave in front of the voters this November.

And good luck with that.

I'd like to see Rmoney explain to mothers who have children with pre-existing conditions how things would actually be better if we went back to "the old way".

I don't think either party is suggesting that we go back to "the old way". It's pretty well-established and agreed upon that the old system was flawed and needed to be fixed. There is just disagreement on how to fix it.

I disagree. The Republicans have abandoned their "repeal and replace" rhetoric. Their goal now is simply to repeal Obamacare, which by definition would be a return to the "old way".

It's pretty hard to deny we're now living in a post constitutional America.

We live in a post-constitutional America because you have to pay a tax penalty for failing to be responsible for your own health care?

Piffle.

Then he should start running ads on his fix. The reality is that the Republicans either liked the old way or were too stupid to even suggest a solution before. Which is true with most of what's wrong in America.

It's pretty hard to deny we're now living in a post constitutional America.

No it's not. We don't live in a post Constitutional America. Just like with George Washington and the first Congress a mandate isn't illegal. You were wrong and the highest court of the land slapped you down. Now get up, act like an adult and help me improve this country of ours.

Two and one-half percent is the 2016 figure. But ObamaCare has problems that must be corrected to conform with the Courts standards:

I read Roberts opinion, he says Congress has an enumerated power to tax, and construes the penalty as a tax, but he also throws out the penalty as illegal because Congress expressly decriminalizes the act of not buying insurance; the IRS cant throw you in jail or penalize you. So Congress must correct the law's language to conform to Roberts standard. And that places the 'tax' exactly where I say it is, cuz so far only Roberts sez its a tax, the penalty in the law being illegal.

I have a feeling miles & Ishatard are sharing a beer with two straws, consoling each other after this.

I don't need motivation lectures from you son. The court just did extreme violence to your liberty, the fact that you don't understand it is your shortcoming, not mine. You'll rue the day if this is allowed to stand.

No. I'll never rue this day. What I will rue is the fact that I had to spend eight years dragging half of my country kicking and screaming into the modern era and quite possibly fucking some shit up horribly because instead of coming to a rational answer I had to just go with whatever was easiest to drag you through.

Uhhh...which day will that be, exactly? See, I've been using the calendar app on my iPod Touch more frequently this year...and if you know when the rue is going to start happening, I'm gonna mark it down and be ready for it!

With any luck it'll be during the summertime, when we can do a rooftop bar jam or something! :D
