"Heavens to betsy" and "oh my stars" are also acceptable, but quite obviously second string.

Actually "Great Caesars Ghost" is Shakespearean, whereas your examples are colloquialisms.

It's about the intention, not the origin. Besides, "jumping jehosaphat!" is just as literary and ghostly according to my Ph. D. in wikipedia.

But, you're welcome all the same.
 
I thought for sure this was going to be a thread about Perry White from the original TV show, The Adventures of Superman.
