Our military/NG is well trained on how to 'secure' and 'support' towns/cities of various sizes. Regular military and even private contractors (keep in mind they don't have to follow rules like the military) are very involved in all this.

It usually comes with an ROE briefing that states you are not to fire until fired upon, however should you observe any hostile action towards you or other members of your unit use of force is authorized.

I want you to think about how broad those ROE's are.....define "hostile action" ...yea...they can even broaden that with a real quick change to "hostile intent" . Keep in mind that these people train on exactly that, scenario after scenario of how to handle a worst case situation. On and on and on I got tales all day long of how fucking scary and unbelievably powerful out military is....we the civilians do NOT want to be put in an us vs. them situation as it WILL end in tragedy.
