Well would he, could he, should he? For or against.

"In 2012, voters in swing states will decide whether they'll allow their fellow citizens to bear joints. Unlike the gay marriage votes, there's no indication that Obama's re-election team is behind any of the pot legalization initiatives, but there are Democrats who are hoping that it will boost turnout among weed's biggest fans: young people. Getting more young people to vote has long been a Democratic fantasy, since they tend to vote so heavily Democratic. But past attempts to bong the vote have been disappointing, in part because stoners aren't the group anyone would most count on to bother filling out a ballot."

Wow-man!

Woof!

The problem is, most stoners won't go out and vote. "Shit, man, that was today? Not cool, I was watching Spongebob."

Well I was thinking more of the baby boomer generation who are becoming the old folks sick of paying for prisons and law enforcement on weed-based crimes.

Besides they might like the odd puff, whether they inhale or not.

And when they hit retirement age, the common rooms of every nursing home in Florida are going to smell of "incense."

I can see the timeline...
Legalise.
Tax.
Legislate.
Tax.
Control distribution.
Tax.
Warn consumers.
Tax.
Instead of an oz costing 'x', it will end up costing 'x + mega tax'.

Right now, where I live, it is not illegal to grow 2 plants for personal use (although it is illegal to own smoking implements).
Our weed is free as a result because we have enough seeds to go for the next 20 years, easy.

Once weed is legal, all that changes.
Just like tobacco.

Maybe so, but at least potheads won't have to worry about getting arrested for it.

The only arrests here now are for those people who grow with intent to supply, and dealers.
And those same people will be arrested after it is legalised.

Yeah, they should have the right...but I can't stand being around people who stoned. It makes you fucking stupid.

actually, the real problem is the romantic morons that actually like the fact that it's illegal and the paranoid dipshits that are worried about taxes and the government and blah blah blah. i fucking hate those people. especially the tax morons. the black market status of marijuana is a tax in and of itself.

Have you ever been in the States? You can get arrested just for possession here!

We should De-criminalize murder, robbery and rape too, there is way to many in jail for those offenses.

You're beginning to understand why, despite not being able to freely carry guns, and despite the snakes, spiders, scorpions, crocodiles and sharks... I live here.
And not there!

Since it's so easy to grow your own I can't imagine tax playing too big a part in the whole thing. Some but not enough to make it like tobacco.
