I swear to FUCKING GOD who doesn't exist that I'm going to THROW THIS STUPID FUCKING LAPTOP OUT THE WINDOW if it gobbles up one more fucking thing I try to post. It ain't Lit lag, it's definitely Firefox. STUPID GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING POST-GOBBLING FREEZE-CRASHING FIREFOX.

But watch, this one it won't freeze on. Betcha fucking anything.

Just a hunch, but you sound somewhat upset.

Firefox just had an update, did you get it?:)

Nope, I have updates turned off. I'll check it out, but remain cynical. I used to be quite the conscientious updater, but crashes kept happening.

if only IE was a better alternative

Indeed.

Just a hunch, but you sound somewhat upset.

No, I'm not upset at all. Cool as a cucumber. Mellower than a Deadhead with a doobie. The drooling, growling, cursing and desk-pounding is no indication of my true state of mind. Not at all.

I'm betting you're doing it wrong. Firefox never freezes up on me. At most, it fails to return a given page request, but I can always prove that's due to a local server simply by accessing a different page. Of course, my computer is barely a year old.

Fess up. How old is that laptop anyway? And when did you last purge your cache? Registry clean up? Disk defrag?

Weird thing is, when Safari started fucking around on me, I switched back over to Firefox.

Now Firefox is dragging its ass to do shit but I have too many tabs with sites I like to keep open and don't feel like closing, so I go back to Safari when I want to download or scroll thru something quickly.

Since I updated FF Lit has not frozen or lagged on me even once. It is (Lit) working OK on my iPod and android phone, too.

It's never frozen, a friend used it and recommended I try it. I've no complaints with it.

I'll consider it. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I last purged my cache three days ago, and clean the registry and run defrag regularly. Believe me, I don't slack on basic maintenance. I even keep the task manager handy so I can check out what's happening at any given time.

Here's the fess up part: I bought my HP laptop from a craigslister (only 15 months ago), and prior to the purchase I looked up the model specs and reviews. A common complaint was freeze-up. When speaking to the fellow offering the computer, I mentioned that it had a reputation for freezing, and he quickly dismissed that, saying it would only happen if I ran uber RAM-hog programs like an MMORPG.

I bought it.

The thing is, it doesn't freeze with other programs - only when Firefox is running, and it's always Firefox that hiccoughs first (like it just did! What the hell? Was I typing too fast for you again, you asshole program?) and effects everything else.

It's not bad on lit, but I see a huge speed difference on most sites by blocking all ads, external links and scripts that run against other sites.
NoScript
Ghostery
Ad-Block plus.

Firefox stopped supporting Google toolbar, that was bad enough. They got rid of nuke ignore, that was pretty well fucked up. Now it crashes and it's slow and I might as well be on IE. I don't know what happened to them but I'm pretty disappointed.

try opera. it usually works okay even if some sites still seem to be unaware of its existence. also, i've had issues with it just going buggy on me out of nowhere in the past, but whatever. i still use it when i am running a lot of shit on my computer because firefox and chrome can be fucking cunts and memory hogs.

I don't like Chrome at all. I tried to like it but don't.

i like it in a lot of ways, but it really sucks all the life out of a computer at times. also, i remember transferring bookmarks from opera to chrome was more of a pain in the ass than it should have been.

Oh, also, before clicking submit, highlight what you wrote, ctrl+ins then if you loose it just paste it what your wrote in and try again. Not a fix, but at least a workaround.

In fairness to Firefox, Nuke Ignore was written by some guy just out of college who decided he didn't have enough time to continually update the program since VBulletin changed so often. ffvb was one of the very few FF addons I'd have been willing to pay money for.

Same here.

I have plotted to be the spinning wheels/hubcaps saboteur by wandering about with a tube of clear silicone caulk and sealing the damned moving bits together.

But I just can't be that anti-social today and still live with myself.

So it remains in the realm of fantasy.

Thankfully, they seem to be pretty much out of style here. Or they all got stolen.
