As this week marks the 4-year anniversary of the first time the average price of regular unleaded exceeded $4/gallon, I thought it might be interesting to check out the current status of gas prices, since as we all know, we've had certain political changes since then that have destroyed the American oil industry, leading to a massive increase in what we're paying at the pump.

So let's see...the average price of regular unleaded today is--er, wait. $3.54/gallon? That's down from what it was in June 2008, and also down from what it was at this time a year ago?

"Facts are stubborn things," as one of our current president's predecessors was fond of saying.

dropping

Prices are dropping here.
Radio says a few stations are under $3/gallon.

The right wing said that gas prices was one of the main reasons that Obama shouldn't be re-elected... just 3 months ago.

What happened?

Gas prices are $3.43 here.

Which Republican will "blame" Obama for the drop after claiming he's responsible for prices?

$3.21 right up the street. They seem to be cheapest in my end of town.

They were about $3.60 maybe 30 days ago.

Hi-test is even under $3.50 in select locations.

Ooo, a gas prices thread! The one I started a little while back was just to ask people what they were paying in their area, but it still turned into an Ish/Perg throwdown over economics. There may or may not have been nude mudwrestling.

I hope you have as much fun with yours, W.E.

I actually don't think Obama has much to do with it one way or another. But I think the burden of proof is on those who have been claiming that specific actions by Obama were causing prices to go up. Now that they are no longer going up, is it because Obama is doing something positive--or does it mean you were wrong originally?

Logic will have no effect on it.

$3.51 in Miami...

The only thing I can blame obama for in this is that he said he would dedicate all resources available to getting away from Venezuelan/Saudi oil on his campaign trail in 08.

Right, wrong and it's effect on the pumps....idk....nothing left but theory crafting and speculation on our parts as to how all that really/could have worked out. However all that aside, much like ending the war it's something I wish he would have stuck to better.....in theory anyhow.

If we did go domestic on our oil/energy it would prob be 10/gal....

Shorter Ellie: Ooh, I'm passive-aggressive....Let's have Ish and Perg fight again!

Back on topic:
Filled up in Biloxi Mississippi yesterday for $3.17 a gallon
Filled up this morning in Houston for $3.34 a gallon.

Side note:
Not sure what is going on with the price of propane but I got a propane tank refill for my grill last week for $13.10 at Walmart....lowest price ever.

$3.17 here in Schlubville.

Falling prices means peasants arent working.
