Do they go hand in hand? Does one mean more to you than the other? For you, what is it to be wanted? what is it to be needed?

I love that my man WANTS me. In all ways - as a partner, lover, friend.
I love the fact that he tells me this even more

It depends - wanted by whom?

For example, I'd rather be needed by the FBI than wanted by the FBI.

I wrote a story about a guy who was wanted but not needed in his marriage realizing he really wasn't satisfied that way and would prefer a divorce. But I think needed but not wanted is definitely worse.

Good question.

But, easy answer for me: want > need.

Don't ya hate it when someone posts a thread then falls asleep on the couch?

I did mean wanted or needed in a relationship, I failed to clarify. Ooops

Id rather be wanted but I dont think I could stay in any relationship where I wasn't both.

I don't know. I guess I just want to be loved. I don't want to have to do anything, especially live up to someone's expectations.

Post office posters say wanted. Needed is better. Being loved usually implies both.

Another question: Is the importance of being more wanted or more needed change based upon the gender of the person answering the question? Or does the personality of the individual determine their answer?

I would vote for "the individual".

Also, I would vote for someone wanting to knead me.

And that koalas should get their own damned coffee.

Wanted or Needed

I want neither to be Wanted nor to be Needed.

If I am Wanted, there is a desire, covet, crave and wish from or of my partner.

If I am Needed, there is necessity, obligation, poverty or misfortune from or of my partner.

I'd rather be wanted, because being needed can be seen as being dependent on, at least in my view. My ex always "needed me." He needed me to help pay the rent, he needed me to drive him to work, he needed me to cook him dinner every night, he needed me to perform my "wifely" duties in the bedroom whenever he felt like it, but I don't believe he ever really wanted me.
