Prince Philip admitted to hospital with bladder infection

he Queen will not have Prince Philip by her side for tonight's Diamond Jubilee concert after he was admitted to hospital with a bladder infection.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the Duke of Edinburgh, 90, has been taken to King Edward VII Hospital in central London after being taken ill earlier today.

He was transported to the medical facility in the capital from his home at Windsor Castle, where he was at the time of his latest health scare.

A spokeswoman for the palace noted he has been admitted as a precautionary measure but will now remain under observation for the next few days, ruling him out of the remainder of the Jubilee programme.

News of Prince Philip's poor health comes at a devastating time for the royals, 24 hours after they participated in a spectacular Jubilee flotilla on the River Thames and ahead of tonight's concert, which is due to feature the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney and Jessie J.

Her Majesty spent last Christmas without her husband after he underwent a heart operation and was confined to hospital over the festive period.

On that occasion, he complained of chest pains and doctors later found a blockage in one of his arteries.

As many will sit thinking, "Gary Barlow what a cunt! I bought a ticket for this shitte...." Phil will be in hospital, feet up, cigar in hand.. something decent on the Tele.. no queue for the toilets....

almost as if he had it planned *nods*
i don't suppose that rubbish weather did either him or the queen any good yesterday, though, at their ages. maybe we'll be getting a new BH this year.

I hate these three cunts with a seething passion.

I hope the Prince gets well soon. He's been to so many of his mother's public ceremonies, though, I'm sure he won't mind watching this one on TV.

Uuuummmm..... Prince Phillip is the Queens husband.
You may be confused

I was thinking of Prince Andrew. If Prince Philip is sick enough to hospitalize -- that could be pretty serious, at his age!

The Royal Family didn't appear too concerned when they were at tonight's concert.

At Prince Philip's age, standing around in the cold and wet at yesterday's River Pageant, even under a canopy, is asking for trouble. However he was doing a little jig to a hornpipe at the end of the Pageant. Perhaps he should have taken a couple more toilet (or G&T) breaks during the parade?

if he had taken more toilet breaks, he wouldn't have danced so much, but if he had then his bladder wouldn't have been well and truly fucked.

Gawd bless ya Phil!

Too bad about phillip but tell me, what kind of party are they going to throw when she beats Victorias record.

I kinda figure thats when she will step down...very next day

I don't think that Her Majesty has any intention of retiring/abdicating. The Royal-watchers think that she sees it as a duty for her whole life.

Between the weekend, the June Bank Holiday and the Diamond Jubilee, the London Stock Exchange has now been closed for 4 consecutive days.

I would not doubt it, that optic can only help so much; Her eyesight cannot be near as good as it once was.

It is sighted, tested and fixed on its mount. The Queen can't miss.

Queen Victoria did the same thing at Bisley. That rifle was fixed so firmly that anyone could have hit the target.

But Her Majesty does not need to pull the trigger herself. She has all the Armed Forces to do her dirty work for her, and if not she has many other 'Royal' institutions from the Scots Royal Corps of Archers, The Honourable Artillery Company and her Royal Swan-Uppers...

The Queen has said that will will not abdicate whilst Charles is still breathing
