It's been far to long since my last trek (the AT), so this next Jan my room mate and I have decided to take good several months, maybe a year and take a stroll down the PCT!!

Super stoked, but I only have 6mo and I have a lot of logistics planning to do.

We are planning on relying more on means than supplies. So if the gun guru's could offer some advice or point me to an official site on the hunting/fishing regs along the trails that would be awesome.

The 308 and 22lr/410 are both CA legal, and we are obviously more than willing to buy all permits/tags/licences for fishing/hunting that we need. But I know there is more bullshit than that to deal with.

I would also appreciate any advice/tips from other litsters who might have finished the 2650mi journey or a good chunk of it. PERG.....

I have a friend who hiked the PCT solo. Her pics and stories are amazing. What a way to spend a few months.

Solo? that's pretty boss hoss lol is she single? cute? :D

Yea I can't wait....we thought about trying to tear through it but then the idea of taking it easy and just soaking up as much of it as we could set a bit nicer with us. Take the time to hang out in hippie hot spots....disconnect for the world and just get right mentally and physically. More like a walk about than a race....should be interesting.

You're going to die.

Hell of a way to die, better than growing old with regret.

I'm jealous. I've done most of the national trails in the UK but we don't have anything nearly as long.

She's gay and has a partner. :)

I loved hearing her talk about the camaraderie on the trail...folks leaving rations and supplies and letters of encouragement at drop spots here and there. And I think you're exactly right about it being about the journey...no need to rush, just soak it all in. I'm excited for you!

Did you do the entire AT?

I wouldn't think game would be that easy to come by along the Trail. I think you'de have to take quite a few detours off it to hunt. And most of it is National Wilderness Area where I don't know that hunting is even allowed.. Would be quite a trek. Sure would like to do it but I'm to old and fat now to do any serious hiking. Good luck!

There is something magical about that part of the country. It made me feel whole.

Damn :( I  me some hippie nature type gal's.

Yea that's what I missed on the AT because we were on a time crunch so we just rucked our ass's off right to the finish. Caught a plane back to Ft.Benning and called it our vacation lol. It was fun but yea I'm deff not super army hooah anymore and I want to enjoy it for something other than the competition of just doing it to say I did it.

Yea we did the entire 2180 mi trek in just over 80 days, and tyvm :D im excited too.

It's like the AT, only without the father-raping hillbillies.

Nice...I didn't run into many on my trek but there were deff some questionable sections in the southern stretch where we did pull security.

I hear ya man, but hey...grass is always greener. I would love to do some packing across/around the EU inc the UK...maybe in a few years? :D

HELL NO! Day zero will start clean shaven/cut...pic's at the end...Grizzly Adams meets tree hugging hippie style :D

Oh I don't mind going and chasing dinner down lol. But the NP/NF/NGP areas are what I need to be cognizant of when deciding to pop some varmint/foul instead of breaking open a dehydrated bag of yum. That's where my questions lie....lots of web surfing to figure it out I suppose.

That's what I'm hoping to get out of it.

Frizzle Apple Tree.

Awesome. I have nothing especially to contribute as far as the trail, but I have friends who've done bits, and they probably have friends who've done all of it. I'll try to think of someone who might have hunted along the way. Several of them fished, I know.

Bet that's not the only plant that gets fired up:cool:

Nope...there will be more lovely ladies for me to torch. :D
