Does sexual orientation weigh with the killer?

My title really means what role does sexual orientation play in the case of killing? Sorry for my elementary school level English.
I am referring to the recent case happening in Canada, where a Chinese student was killed and dismembered by a male porn star,who is believed to be bisexual.
He has sexual interests in both male and female, is it the reason that his hormone is in disorder that he did such unbelievable thing like eating human flesh raw and mutilating a gay partner and mailing the body parts to the head office of the ruling party of Canada?
i am from China, where sex topic is taboo and public prostitution is prohibited, and the forum here is very new to me, so if I have asked any silly question or childish ones, please do not mind, treat me as your curious kid and try to give an answer to help.

There appears to be a link between the recent cases of cannibalism and an as yet legal drug called Bath Salts. Hopefully it will soon be made illegal in all states and harder for people to get.

Bisexuality and homosexuality are not disorders. I know plenty of gay and bisexual people and they're no more violent than anybody else - if anything, maybe a bit less violent. They're also much more likely to be the VICTIMS of violence by others.

This particular guy is bisexual and a cannibal, but don't assume the two are connected. There have been quite a few cases of cannibalism by heterosexuals - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_serial_killers_by_country for some examples.

Sexual orientation affects who we're attracted to, period. As Saxon said, it has nothing to do with hormones or brain chemistry. Proportionally, most murderers are heterosexual, yet you don't ask if being straight/attracted to the opposite sex makes people crazy murderers, right? Likewise, most killers are male, but it's not fair to conclude that having a penis makes one a murdering lunatic.

People typically harm and kill others because there's something wrong with their brain chemistry and/or they had a bad childhood (e.g. they were traumatized, physically and/or sexually and/or mentally abused, they weren't taught right from wrong, the people who raised them never set limits, they weren't given help when there were warning signs like hurting or killing animals). Drugs can certainly change brain chemistry and personality traits as well.

Sexual orientation has nothing to do with being a murderer or a thief or anything else, as others have said it is simply who we are attracted to. A rough analogy to wondering if sexual orientation has anything to do with murder would be like having a male serial killer who was into killing blond women and assuming anyone who was attracted to blond women was a killer.

Unfortunately even here in the US we have a lot of people who think that way, the fundamentalist Christians/evangelicals down in the bible belt believe that gay people are all sick, are pedophiles and worse and probably read about this and said "see, I told you" and we had a serious candidate for the GOP nomination who said that being gay was akin to being into sex with animals, pedophilia and so forth, and no one batted an eye in terms of that.

Put it this way, the overwhelming ranks of murderers have been straight, much more then their percentage of the population, using stats we could argue that being straight made someone more likely to kill..(obviously I am being deliberately idiotic with that). People who kill do so because they have something wrong with them, usually they are people who have had bad backgrounds, abuse and so forth.

When I learn English from the famous New Concept English, a textbook compiled by L. G. Alexander, I know there are only hunger and women that can push the world forward or make the men work.
In the above case, hunger cannot be justified, neither can women, because the Canadian porn star can have decent meals each day and he is a bi, so it is natural for us to assume the hormone or lack or disorder of it plays an important role in his misbehavior.

There are crazed killers everywhere in the world, including China and the Far East. For example, the Shen brothers (from China) killed 11 prostitutes, burning their bodies with sulfuric acid, or chopping up the body with a meat processor. Seisaku Nakamura from Japan was born deaf and stabbed at 9 people, including two women he attempted to rape. Do we now say that because he was deaf that all deaf people have a tendency to kill? Tsutomu Miyazaki (again Japan) mutilated and killed four girls, drank the blood of one of them and ate the hand of the other. Yoo Young-chul (South Korea) is a self confessed cannibal as well as killer, murdering prostitutes and wealthy old men. Please do not assume that it's merely a North American phenomena. One of the reasons why you hear so much about the 'Canadian Butcher' or the 'Psycho of Montreal' is the media attention given to it. Furthermore, with the advent of instant media access (ie internet), details of such horrendous crimes become widespread.

Magnotta's sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with the gruesome nature of his crime, neither is the fact that he is was a porn actor (he was not a 'star') and a prostitute. A serious mental illness has everything to do with this, along with a need for attention. And for what it's worth, most of the murderers I had just listed were straight (if not all).


And by the way, a lot of things will make people work - including revenge. We do not know what goes through the mind of those sick individuals.
