A New Jersey father who claims his 8-week-old son was sickened by salmonella-tainted dry dog food is suing the maker of the recalled product and Costco, the store that sold it.

Lawyers for Nevin Eisenberg, 37, of Marlboro, N.J., filed a lawsuit last week in federal court in New Jersey alleging that products made by Diamond Pet Food Processors of Gaston, S.C., landed the infant in the hospital with an infection caused by a rare strain of salmonella Infantis.

Why did this guy feed his kid dog food in the first place? Someone call social services, please?

So an 8 week old with no teeth and who is not independently mobile, whose primary food is liquid, ingested tainted dog food, now dad is suing.

Here's what happened

News Alert Brand X Dog food is being recalled as it is tainted with samonella.
Dad Hey I just bought some of that. Here son, eat this so we can get rich.
Is next
Dad Why am I being arrested
Cop because dumbass you intentionally feed your kid tainted food to make him sick to get money.

Read the article, you do not have to eat the dog food to get infected. ;)

It is not clear how the child may have contracted the illness, Olsen said. The father had been buying bulk bags of Costco dry food at a store in Morganville, N.J., for months for the family’s two dogs, Bailey, an 85-pound retriever mix, and Gracie, a 15-pound rat terrier mix. The dogs did not get sick.

Samples of the family’s pet food sent to Monmouth County for laboratory analysis did not test positive for salmonella, Olsen said. He suggested that the contamination with the rare salmonella strain could have come from an earlier batch.

CDC officials said people can transmit salmonella germs after contact with contaminated pet food or pets. Salmonella can be shed in the stool of pets for four to six weeks after infections.

Okay again the kid is not independently mobile, so either dad feed the kid tainted food or was handling dog crap with his bare hands, then playinig with his son without washing his hands. But wiat the dogs didn't get sick so not from dogs or dog crap.

The smallest dog weighs about what a large infant weighs but didn't get sick. So this lends credence to dad feeding the kid the food.

They food they had in the house was not tainted, so how did the kid get sick? Not from the dogs since they didn't get sick, not from the food feed to the dogs since no adult or dog got sick.

So again dad heard that there was tainted dog food gave some to his kid so he could sue then threw the rest out so the dogs wouldn't get sick. Just my opinion.

Racist thinking.

Then why didn't mom or the small dog get sick too.

Strictly devils advocate, mom because being an adult has a higher tolerance and the small dog may eat different food than the other dog.

It's possible if not highly unlikely

Okay i willl grant your point about the mom, but the article says dad bought the food for both dogs, so its unlikly they eat different foods.

You are absolutely right! An 8-week old infant is not independently mobile, and drinks and eats liquid foods. This child was deliberately fed tainted dog food by it's father so he could sue to get rich.

This incident promptly needs to be investigated by law enforcement and social services, I hope his lawsuit gets thrown out after it is exposed as being a fraud and he gets sent away jail for attempted extortion and child abuse.

All evidence points towards the baby intentionally being fed dog food.

This reminds me of a story about a woman who murdered her husband, cut his finger off, and put his finger in a fast food sandwich so she could sue and make tons of money. However, her crime was discovered and she was eventually convicted of 1st degree murder and was put away for life.

The absolutely unbelievable extremes that people are willing to go to get rich never cease to astound me.

The ways that the deeply corrupt and troubled United States civil justice system is being exploited for purposes of outright greed and profit, has caused me to lose all of my belief in the integrity and legitimacy of the American legal system.
