Young Justice (OOC)

Robin

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/young_justice__robin_and_nightwing_by_yorkemaster-d4ywk06.jpg
In this image, it shows Dick at ages 13 and 18. He was 13 when the JLA first formed, and is 18 when Young Justice forms. He hasn't become Nightwing just yet, so picture his Robin costume sized for an adult body.

Real Name: Richard “Dick” Grayson
Age: 18
Birthday: June 22nd
Birthplace: Gotham City, New Jersey

Skills

Dick possesses the peak athletic strength and endurance of a man who regularly engages in intensive physical exercise. His martial arts skills rival those of Batman, and he was rigorously trained by his mentor in everything from escapology to criminology, fencing, stealth, disguise, and numerous other combat/non-combat disciplines. He is fluent in a number of languages and had the finest education as Bruce Wayne's adopted son.

Gear/Equipment

Dick has a number of gadgets in his utility belt, including shuriken that explode on contact, a pen that shoots out a tiny tracking device that sticks to any surface, and several dozen modified batarangs (called wing-dings) along with de-cel jumplines and gas capsules to reach the tops of buildings.

He has a state-of-the-art motorcycle complete with an onboard computer and built in wifi, as well as a helmet that connects wirelessly to the computer with audio and video feedback and communications capabilities. The helmet also has nightvision and a heads-up display on the inside of the visor.

His costume is made of a version of the Nomex fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and also insulated against electricity. The suit he wears is also fireproof, and his mask is held in place with spirit gum.

Powers/Abilities

Dick has no superhuman powers, and relies solely on technology and his own wits.

Background

When Dick was nine, his parents were killed by Tony Zucco, a gangster who wanted Dick's father to fight for him in mixed martial arts tournaments. The Graysons refused, wanting to be left alone to run their karate school. Zucco killed them and burned their school to the ground, and Dick just barely escaped.

Bruce Wayne had been good friends with John and Mary Grayson, and they had named him Dick's godfather, so he went to live at Wayne Manor. It was only a matter of time before the boy discovered his godfather was Batman, and soon he too was learning to fight crime and took on the alias of Robin.

Over his eight years as the Dark Knight's sidekick and apprentice, Dick met many other heroes, and even started a relationship with Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) when he was fifteen. They dated on and off for the next three years, until Dick moved away to join Young Justice.

Superboy

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/young-justice-superboy2.jpg

Real Name: Kon-El, Conner Kent
Age: Appears 18
Birthday: July 4th
Birthplace: Cadmus Labs, in the middle of the desert in New Mexico

Skills

Being a clone that was just recently born, Conner has not developed any noteworthy skills that aren't listed under powers.

Gear/Equipment

Conner has no need of any specific equipment.

Powers/Abilities

Conner, being half human and half Kryptonian, has some of the same powers as Superman, such as enhanced strength, speed, stamina, agility, and flight. He does not possess any of the vision, hearing, or breath abilities of Kal-El, but he is able to channel the solar energy he absorbs into his hands to create heat blasts. He also has an elevated healing factor that essentially renders him a permanent teenager, a trait that was genetically engineered into him on the order of Lex Luthor. The healing factor makes him stronger against Kryptonite, but Luthor does have a special serum that can kill Conner in only a few seconds.

Background

During their first mission into Cadmus Labs in New Mexico, Young Justice discovers a clone of Superman being created. At first, the clone is still within an artificial womb, but appears to be eighteen years old. They discover many clone wombs in the lab, and set out to destroy them all. Conner is the farthest along of the clones, and his eyes shoot open when they destroy his womb.

All the clones had been implanted with nanochips along their brainstems, and using this, Mark Desmond gave Conner the order to kill the invaders. Eventually, however, he was able to overcome the nanochips when some of Clark Kent's childhood memories began to surface, and he managed to defy his programming. With a little help from Martian Manhunter, his mind was permanently blocked against the chips, and he became a member of Young Justice.

Damn you and Robin! A show finally comes along damn near demanding you play Nightwing and leave Robin for me and you still snag him. They finally make a kryptonian I don't want to either rape or have raped and you snag that too. Greedy, just greedy.

So either my usual or I've had a semi-original charachter kinda bouncing around. Though onestly with Justice Leage Doom finally doing something I don't remember in the comic (I'm sure it's happened and I missed it) allowing Cyborg to fucking graduate to Justice League status perhaps I should honor him.

In order for you to play Robin I'd have to make Nightwing like 23. And I always play Dick Grayson and Conner Kent :p. Maybe later on we can fast forward a few years so that Tim Drake can be eighteen, and then you'd have a Robin.

Miss Martian

http://images.wikia.com/majestic-guardians/images/b/b6/Miss_Martian1.png

Real Name: Megan Morse (M'gann M'orzz)
Age: 18

Personality:

M'gann M'orzz is an exceptionally sweet and caring young Martian girl, who is enamoured with life on earth. Her entire personality seems to be based on female characters from sitcoms from a bygone era. This isn't to say that she comes off as old fashioned, rather she is incessantly perky and cheerful; not enough to make her annoying but more than enough to make her stand out in a crowd.

Despite her constant "research" into earth culture, M'gann can still be surprised by the customs and actions of humans. At times this makes her appear to be somewhat scatterbrained and confused.

Gear and Equipment:

Her costume closely imitates that of her uncle's. It has a white short-sleeved top that has a large red "X" criss-crossed over the chest. She wears a red belt with a solid gold circular buckle around her slim waist, and a short blue skirt as well. A matching blue cape, gloves and ankle high boots completes her ensemble.

For covert operations, she wears a black form fitted body suit with the same red "X" laid across her chest. Her cape shifts to a much darker shade of blue, and gains a fitted hood that she wears over her head to cover her auburn locks.

Powers:

Like all martians, M'gann has complete and utter psionic control over every molecule that makes up her physical body. This control grants her a malleable form that can alter its shape at her every whim. Theoretically, she can contort her physical structure into various shapes, elongate and/or grow extra limbs, or even alter her natural shape and colour to appear human. Mimicking a human form requires a certain degree of concentration and skill (in the past she has demonstrated difficulty in mimicking human males); despite this she can maintain her selected form for an indeterminate amount of time without undue risk or strain.

M'gann has learned through practice to alter the colour and temperature of her outer layer of skin to accurately depict her surroundings. She does so with enough detail that she effectively becomes invisible when motionless, and a hazy blur when in motion. She can be seen and detected by the naked eye when camouflaged in this manner, but one would need to know what they were looking for and/or possesses highly keen or superhuman senses to detect her when motionless.

M'gann's psionic gifts can be applied externally as well; using her psionic strength M'gann can manipulate and move large objects without physically touching them. The exact limits of her telekinetic strength has not been measured but she has literally uprooted large boulders from the earth, deflected a full out assault from Superboy and slammed aerial fighter drones together in flight with no visible strain to herself. By focusing her telekinesis upon her own frame, M'gann can defy gravity and fly through sheer force of will.

M'gann's psionic strength isn't limited to physical interaction with the world around her. Like all Martians, M'gann is capable of communicating non-verbally with other sentient beings; she can literally project her thoughts and feelings into the minds of any being that surrounds her. This form of telepathic intrusion can be seen as extremely invasive to humans (and even painful in some cases) but it is the natural form of communication amongst Martians. In addition to "simple" communication; M'gann possesses enough telepathic strength and precision to examine the memories of any mind she is in contact, restore lost memories or to do battle on the psychic plane.

Unlike her uncle, M'gann has yet to master the martian art of "Density-Shifting," which would allow her to potentially achieve a state of total intangibility, or by reversing the process and increasing her density gain a measure of superhuman strength and durability. When or if she will master this technique is unknown.

Background:

M'gann M'orzz, one of Martian Manhunter's many nieces, spent her formative years on the planet Mars living amongst her own people while being raised alongside her twelve sisters. During this time, she somehow became infatuated with life on the planet earth (most likely due to hearing stories about her uncle's adventures there) and developed an unrelenting desire to visit the small blue planet. Opportunity finally knocked for M'gann in the month of May of the current year, when J'onn prepared to return to his duties on the Earth. As he prepared to leave, M'gann covertly stowed away on his vessel and only revealed herself when the two Martians made earth-fall.

J'onn kept M'gann's presence on the earth a secret for the next few months. M'gann used the time to familiarize herself with her new home, and spent countless hours perfecting her human guise. She based her identity on an old North American sitcom, including her mannerisms and speech patterns. Despite her own readiness to meet her uncle's allies, J'onn was reluctant to expose her to any form of danger and more so, to human teenagers.

It wasn't until the proteges of his Justice League allies rescued the youth Superboy from Cadmus Labs that J'onn changed his mind. With that single action, the young heroes displayed enough courage, determination and capability to impress the enigmatic martian. As such, when Batman formed his covert team on the 8th of July, they were introduced to M'gann.

Awesome profile, but you should change the part at the end since the heroes who go to Cadmus will be a different line up lol.

I wish profiles were posted so we could get this stared.

Who needs profiles for established characters?

Just start and folks will fall in...anything that you'd discover in a profile can be introduced in the story as exposition. If there's something you'd like to have established as backstory/canon for this version of YJ, then post something in the OOC thread addressing it.

Example:
The history of Earth-16 (where YJ is set) apparently varies wildly from established DC norms, and is still being revealed as the series continues on. One aspect that is radically different is Gar Logan's past. No more orphan (well, maybe during the five-year gap); No more monkey bite and experimental serum; No more Doom Patrol as far as I can gather, but he gets a tie-in with Miss Martian (should our player and Jeff wish to continue that tidbit).

So, how much of what-has-gone-before in assorted other continuities do we want to crib and how much do you want us to establish for ourselves?

If you want a wholly original bio/profile, that's cool; but I had no idea that you were actually waiting on such.

Well, the main reason I was waiting is to be fair and so I'd have an idea of the line up before doing the intro post. Plus without profiles, we have no idea how people are doing their version of their chosen character.

Fair enough. I will have something for you this afternoon.

Let me ask, though, what is the status of the Doom Patrol for your version of this continuity? I ask because I am thinking of maybe working up some sort of blend of the various versions and their histories.

Basically, if I didn't mention it in the info post about the JLA/JLI, its open. You can incorporate the Doom Patrol however you want, and make Gar's origin whatever you want it to be. We don't have to follow Earth-16's history exactly. We can create the world as a group, as we play.

Here's some other cool YJ vids:

This video is actually from Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, but I am hoping it will inspire Tearsoftheworld to come play Supergirl in the rp :). http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=crjr_VtlHFM

Yes, this is a HSM song, but it fits with the video, lol.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6sAFjzCBrQ

Oh, and this vid shows footage from both prior to and after the time jump: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0h2AlyCNKQ

I also found the first episode of Invasion, but it is shown as a mirror image to prevent legal issues or something I guess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kUOkyYF26o&feature=BFa&list=PLE7A4B519F32E0380

Sorry. I really suck at profiles. I tend to kinda grow my charachters organically over the first bunch of posts I do with them.

http://images.wikia.com/ben10/images/d/d8/Ben10-logo.png

Real Name: Benjamin Tennyson

Age: 18

Personality:

Ben came into the hero business young, at age ten to be precise, and while he's had a lot of experience (and lots of people working silently behind the scenes to keep him from knowing just how close to disaster things have gotten on several occasions) it's overwhelmingly positive. It's made him cocky and brash in a lot of situations though generally friendly and willing to listen to others, assuming they catch his attention quickly enough.

He's prone to rushing into a situation and solving it on the fly

Gear and Equipment:

The Omnitrix, a large green watch in appearance gives him the ability to transform into any sentient alien species in the galaxy. The creator however has limited it to ten species for the time being.

Powers:
Possible latent magic, so far however he's never displayed any skill in the mystic arts.

Background:

After getting the Omnitrix at age 10, Ben has gone on to fight a mostly secret war against invading Aliens with the support of covert US military groups. He's never been much of a team player and is really here somewhat reluctantly. It's a great honor to work with the legends on the team, to say nothing of the Justice League but he much prefers being the lead with support not an actual team player.

Available Aliens:

Spider Monkey: Blue skinned, four arms, four eyes. Highly agile able to shoot webbing from it's tail.
Wrath: Humanoid tiger with bone spurs jutting from the wrists. Strong and durrable.

After the first major story arc, we were thinking of having an alien invasion like the show, but here's my idea for it: several alien races have joined to form the Dominion. The main leaders of the Dominion are Vilgax and Darkseid, though this version of Darkseid is of a race called Apokkian, from the planet Apokk. Basically they are large grey people with red eyes. Maybe the Plumbers have been working with the Green Lanterns Corps to collect intelligence as they suspect there is foul play afoot?

Sounds like a plan. Hell I'd almost just go the extra mile and make the Green Lantern (despite routinely having as many as four we only RATE one Lantern) is the official leader of the Plumbers. Not that I'm gonna bother to change the art that the symbol on the Omnitrix would be the Lantern Symbol instead of the hour glass.

Beast Boy

Name: Beast Boy

Identity: Gar Logan
Age: 18
Birthday: Not a clue, canonically. Let's say...June 21 for the rp
Birthplace:Oceanside, CA but raised along the border between Qurac and Bialaya
Occupation: Student
Relationship status: Single

Character history:
As a child, Garfield was injured during an attack by the forces of the Queen Bee as they crossed the border during a skirmish with jet fighters from Qurac and his mother, who ran a wildlife refuge and maintained the scientific research begun by Gar's father, was forced to administer an untested serum to him. His body had an adverse reaction to the drug and he was saved by a transfusion provided by the Justice League member known as the Martian Manhunter (who had been in the area researching alleged war crimes on both sides of the conflict). At first, the only side effect was to turn his eyes green, but when the Queen Bee sent in a team of raiders to retrieve ordinance and attempt to get the refuge owners to leave, his powers came to the fore and is entire body became the same shade of green as a Martian.

After his mother died during the this raid, Garfield remained in Africa for a time under the care of some local witch doctors who his mother would go to for help with some of the animals from time to time. Eventually, he was reunited with J'onn who arranged for him to come back to the United States where he was taken under the wing of Rita and Steve Dayton. Rita had been a friend of his mother back when she worked in television and at some movie studios, and had no problems in taking over that role in Gar's life. Steve Dayton wasn't so sure and his relationship with Gar was always rather strained. This strain grew less after Gar discovered that the Daytons were members of a super-hero group named the Doom Patrol.

Gar developed the alter ego of Beast Boy, presented to the public as something like a missing link or throwback utilizing his power to always appear as a sort of monkey/wolf boy, and served as a team mascot--although he also helped on many adventures with them, becoming more of a group sidekick. Rita, aka Elasti-Girl, had insisted in his trying to have as normal a life as possible and Gar was at a boarding school when the Doom Patrol was captured by the Brotherhood of Evil and blown up, presumably to their deaths.

This was a final straw for Gar, who dropped full-time into crime-fighting and trying to show that he was okay in spite of having lost every important adult to ever enter his life from the time he was about six until his mid teens. Using money left behind by both his mother's and Rita's etates and a stipend from Steve Dayton--who had not been present at the demise of the rest of the Doom Patrol, because of being treated for mental illness caused by his psychomatic helmet--he has come to Rhode Island to attend college.

And have fun by being close to both New York and Boston, as well.

Powers:
Gar can shapeshift into any living creature with the only alterations to their physical form being that he can always speak and the creature is always a bright, almost day-glo green in colour. Usually, he only adopts animal forms as it is hard both mentally and physically to assume sentient lifeforms (as in human-level consciousness). He can both shrink and grow and drops or gains mass as necessary, large gains in size or mass are not held as long as other forms but it's not known if smaller forms can be held for longer periods.

Skills:
Gar had a number of mentors in the Doom Patrol, and picked up a variety of skills from them during the close, hectic (if brief) time he was with them.

Niles Caulder prompted Gar to have an interest in science but without bogging himself down with the usual scientific method--he is bright and intuitive, often making what might seem like sizable jumps in reasoning when puzzling through a problem.

Rita and Steve were excellent teachers in how to conduct oneself in the public eye--acting, speaking, carriage and, to a small extent, style were things that he picked up from them. (Lessons not always remembered, however, as Gar has a tendency to be sophomoric and run on at the mouth.)

He is in excellent physical health and is a midrange martial artist, primarily boxing that he learned from Cliff Steele, aka Robotman, although he tends to instinctively use the greater strength, agility, and physical attacks (claws, teeth) that his animal forms grant him.

Lastly, being brought up amid a mix of different cultures has given Gar a good sense of how to fit in among many different cliques; he also speaks a number of African languages on the conversational level as well as Farsi and French, and can recognize others when he hears them being spoken.

Regarding profile

Alright, profile is up and running. Finally. :)

If you, or the player behind Miss Martian, would rather not use that aspect of the backstory--cribbed from current Young Justice storylines--I can have that revert to strictly being a side-effect of the untested serum. (Like, maybe something having to do with that strange glowing green mineral his father used when making it. ;))

Sean: If you want, you can say a Green Lantern leads the Plumbers. Your call.

Remec: Awesome profile. If Tighty wants to go with that, I'm cool with it, but I see a problem - M'gann's profile says she just recently arrived on Earth. Unless Gar is somehow from like five years in the future, maybe back to warn them about the upcoming invasion? Whatever works. Oh, and they aren't in NYC this time. Happy Harbor, Rhode Island, though their missions will take them all over the world.

If you decide to go with the future thing, I have a motive for sending Gar: they can only create a tiny wormhole to the past using the generators in their underground refugee camp, so Gar volunteers to become a flea and fly through the wormhole. Just an idea. My other idea is that J'onn is the one who gave Gar his blood many years ago, and came to love him like a nephew, and so when M'gann comes, she proclaims herself his sister.

That sounds like it might work out better, in the long run. Time travel of any kind tends to make my brain ache when it involves multiple authors (like in a RP); I think having J'onn be the one responsible for saving him works just fine, and we can go with your spin on the relationship with M'gann or, even, depending on what Tighty feels like playing, we could work it that Gar and her have also just met and she's not sure what to make of him. (Or have never met until in the RP and she might even mistake him for another Martian transplant. *shrug*)

The Plumbers are an off shoot of the Lanterns. We don't get rings but the badges resemble the Lantern. Technically we only answer to The Green Lantern of our sector, in practice unless you're Guy Gardner your word is gold. Ben for obvious reasons is a partial exception to that rule but like Guy it's more because you can only ask Ben to do what you want, you can't tell him shit. Even if he can't defeat you he can sure as fuck be a big enough pain in the ass that you'd be better off just ignoring him.

That works. Like, our galactic neighborhood is so overrun with powerful villains that Gaurdians gave the Lanterns the authority to set up, shall we call them "civillian" forces under their command. And technically the Plumbers would probably answer to Hal Jordan and John Stewart, since they are the senior Lanterns in the sector.
