from what i've heard and seen back in the day, yeah. i know i could never justify getting one. god, i really did want one though. instead i have a shitty casio that i used to hook up to my big muff and various distortion pedals to kinda get some similar effects. there was some awesome drone to be had there.

A Flash UI for PD or Max synth patch with lots of controllers. I'm on my old PPC and couldn't scroll in Firefox, but if you turn off the stupid "drum" patch and play instead with tone generation, you might get some cool effects.
