Underage sex/sex with minors

Hey, a last romp before he passed on....and one never knows how Frodo and Sam passed their nights on the way to Mount Doom. Maybe the "gardener" bit had two meanings. ;)

Not to mention what was going on between Merry and Pip. They were very....close, weren't they?
What else were they going to do? Tolkien didn't write them any women.

Oh, he totally pings my gaydar. Back in his day, gay men often married and were fathers-- didn't make them any less homosexual.

Still common in some parts of the world today. Ted Haggard, anyone? Or Larry Craig of the mens' room notoriety.

Let me say this...

My maternal great-grandmothers has sex with miners...:D

According to family history, one of my great grandmothers was a miner....

Or a gold digger.

According to which side of the family was speaking at the time.

Both Polish great-grandfathers were coal miners, until they moved to Schenectady where one worked at the "Plant" - General Electric - and the other at the end of Erie Blvd at the "Factory" - American Locomotive.

His writings aside, the story of his love affair with his wife suggests to me that he was a straight man. And maybe a straight whiskey man, as well (to reconcile the 2 sub-threads here).

Threads here seem to take on a life of their own, kind of like a normal conversation between a group of people.

I do want to apologize for starting the miner thing but i thought the discussion was getting a little harsh and some levity was needed.

I laughed at the last miner one--and then again when it seemed quickly to be misinterpreted. :D

No apology necessary, or even desired. No offense was taken. In fact, I got a kick out of it, so thanks.

Most of us Lit-ariens know that life's too serious, so this is an outlet to let go and be silly

I bow to your superior knowledge. ;)
I was kinda obsessive about the Tolkein universe for a while and Silmarillion hadn't come out yet-- I have to say that stuff bored the fuck out of me. But before that I read everything I could find...
