Granted, he's an ass, but for a number of reasons (one of which, he's a lawyer and pushed so far for the tobacco tax hike/settlement crap that made my cigarettes so damn expensive). But I still want him to have a fair trial, whatever the jurors think of him personally. Even Hermann Goering had a fucking trial, and Goering was far worse scum than Edwards.

So, what are your thoughts? Does John Edwards deserve a fair trial, or should all cheating husbands be lynched and railroaded by the jurors? Can he get a fair trial? Or is he automatically screwed?

I vote for "I don't care and hope they convict him."

He's lower than whale shit.

Aside from infidelity, what did he do that was all that bad? Wasted money? Make him pay it back with interest. But prison? Seriously?

Of all the Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidates in the past decade or so, Edwards has disappointed me the most. The whole ordeal is a freaking mess. Like an enigma wrapped inside an enigma.

It is his wife I feel the utmost sorrow for. Particularly in her end days.

Again, I understand that he is scum, but I just don't get the urge to crucify the man. Newt Gingrich did something even worse to a woman and he got millions of votes. John Edwards gets nailed in the press and railroaded by the courts.

What did Gingrich do besides fuck up his momentum of fickle supporters....like he always has?

Sure.

Just as soon as he pleads as guilty as the media has painted him.

Hell, he might even be guilty.

The jury is only deciding on the six charges of violating campaign finance law Edwards was prosecuted for.

It has nothing to do with his "personal" life.

He's looking at possibly 30 years in prison if found guilty on all counts.

Since the bozo has spent much of his adult life already on the taxpayer's dime...

...he'll be fine doing a few years in Sing Sing.

I assume the OP is refering to all the lying and cheating and abandoning of sick spouses Newt did.

I assumed the same as well. However, anyone with any knowledge of Gingrich's history, both political and in marriage, already know Newt is going to fuck up anything good his has going for him. He is the first to lead and take charge when it suits his interests while also being the first to abandon his own ship at the first signs of a leak. NO small surprise Newt will do anything responsible that does not benefit him in some way.

Edwards simply shocked me. I was disappointed on a personal level. I thought he was better than this. Mostly though, I think he is disappointed in himself. I hope he somehow recovers.

The trial started 3 weeks ago and has been with the jury for a day or so. Basically you're nearly a month late.

And I thought that you were saying that their deliberations were over. The trial ain't over until the jury votes guilty, not guilty (or not proven, if in Scotland), or is hung.

Oh, come on...that's the same crap that the GOP pulled during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. "It's not about sex, it's about perjury." Ken Starr didn't spend millions of taxpayer dollars on perjury indictments. The charges are one thing, the impetus for making them was the affair.

Edwards was a slimeball. I could tell that from day one. He was too slick, much like Clinton. That's no reason to send him up the river.

I never trusted him myself. Then again, as a smoker, I had a strong aversion to him and his tobacco tax crap. Plus, I hate lawyers. But that's no reason to lynch the guy.

Your numerous sig lines and their format look awfully similar to a couple of other new posters...

...how many alts do you have running now?
