Have been lurking here for a long time. Thought it was about time that there was a thread for people who have genital, oral or both forms of herpes to post personal ads here.

I have genital herpes. And I know there are others out there ! We're looking for love and sex too. If you don't have a profile here, then create one so you can put a personal ad in this thread.

For those of you who are uniformed about herpes and may mock the creation and existence of this thread, here is a brief introduction or education about herpes:

It is one of the most common STD's in the United States. It's estimated that 1 in every 9 sexually active males and 1 in every 5 sexually active females has herpes. Essentially it is a (so far) untreatable virus that manifests as a skin condition. Some people get painful sores/outbreaks frequently and some hardly ever get sores at all.

Regarding diagnosis of whether or not you have acquired herpes, you may get sores fairly soon after infection but it is not uncommon to even take years before a person discovers that he or she has acquired herpes...in the meantime, possibly passing it to other sex partners.

So do people with herpes not bother to join Literotica, are they here but in hiding, or some of you have herpes already and you just don't know it and haven't manifested symptoms yet? I'd like to know.

For more information about genital and oral herpes (known as the common cold sore) check out these helpful websites:

I'm sure there are PLENTY of herpes + litsters, many of whom don't even know they are positive.

Those who do know are doubtlessly not in a hurry to divulge it, but kudos to you for making this topic.

Thanks for the kudos. :)

Sorry to keep bumping my own thread, but wondering if anyone reading it out there could suggest an alternate or better spot in the forums to post a thread about herpes to see if other Literotica members have it and want to talk about it ? :)

I added a poll to my thread if anyone is interested.

Also, I am still wondering if there are other Litsters out there who have herpes too.

Yoooooo hooooooo. Wazzup, Literotica in 2013 ??? :)

Anybody else at Literotica with herpes?

How about do you know anyone with herpes ? A close friend ? A family member ? An ex ?

Did you ever have feelings for someone but found out he or she has herpes so you broke things off ?

Do you know the facts about herpes? How it transmits ? How you can protect yourself from getting it ?

Do you have any other STD instead ?

Give me a shout to talk about any of the above.

Statistically, a TON of litsters have herpes. I guess they are ashamed?

I'm not sure that's it, but it could be. :) IMHO more people are statistically unaware of how easy it is to get herpes, many don't even know they have it until symptoms manifest much later or they infect someone else, and many who do have herpes are all too aware of the sometimes negative, ignorant and judgmental reactions of the uninfected.

Someone wrote to me privately and suggested that I should have included the following option in the poll... since I didn't, I'll pose the question here, which can be discussed publicly or privately with me if you like:

Would you consider having safe(r) sex with someone who has herpes i.e. using protection ? Or have you done so ?

me too

I have been diagnosed and it makes me feel terrible. I would never have sex with someone else without first making them aware of the risks. I still need to learn how to deal with it...

Thanks for admitting you've got it here in the forum. I am sure there are MANY other forum members here who have it too and won't admit to this. Concern about STD's SHOULD absolutely go hand in hand with sexual activity and pleasure, but notice how the topic is pretty much avoided here like the bubonic plague.

If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Bumping this thread ! Yoo hoo ! Anybody else have herpes out there ?

You're out there. I KNOW you are. So you don't want other Literotica members to know you have it ? Create an alternate profile just for THIS thread. So your cover isn't blown, right ?

Because there is NO WAY that, like, only three people have herpes on this entire site !

I call bullshit !

I've got a form of herpes that probably nobody else in this thread has.

Ocular herpes! (It's a form of HSV-1, but it doesn't often manifest like this.)

It's SUPER fun. Your eyes hurt and it causes all these weird visual effects, like rainbow haloes around light sources and hazy vision, like looking through a shower curtain constantly. It can really mess up your corneas, so once you get the initial flare, you need to get your ass to an eye doctor asap. And then you get Valtrex for ten days, and you hope it doesn't come back. And before you're treated, you have to be very careful about who you touch and how you touch them.

I had like five flare-ups this year, so now I'm on Valtrex every day until further notice, which is awesome.

Count me in. A sneaky disease that emerges when I'm feeling down and makes me feel like a leper. Luckily it doesn't happen too often and I've managed to avoid passing it on. I find it very hard to judge when to mention it to new lover...as we're heading for bed or presumptuously before that?!

Hey, Scrivener_ and dumbeg4, thanks for chiming in on this thread.

Scrivener_, sorry to hear you have ocular herpes, wow !

dumbeg4, not sure if you're seeking input or just commenting but thanks for posting.

I know that the How To forum, There are a couple of threads in there dealing with herpes...
I was shocked recently when I read the 1 out of 5 women and the 1 out of 9 men have herpes, and many have never had symptoms. Too top that off, herpes is not routinely included in a STD test. You have to ask for it... and, then... a lot of doctor's discourage the antibodies blood test because they've always thought that a person had to have an active outbreak to properly test for the virus.
There's a big stigma to herpes, unwarranted, really, considering how common and elusive the virus can be.
Thanks for the links.

That person is long gone. They haven't posted since September 2014. And this thread was created in 2012.

People are going to click on this just because I posted in this thread and they're just wondering if I have herpes.

*shaking head*
No, I don't.

Thanks for your comments. All are on point.

To add to what you said...yes, most people have no idea how common herpes is (both oral and genital versions) and how easily it is hidden and spread. It's also kind of shocking and scary how even the medical community isn't properly informed about nor informing people properly about herpes.

The fact of the matter is that almost NOBODY is REALLY "clean" (HATE that word) of all std's their whole life. Many people are going to wind up with chlamydia, gonorrhea, or HPV at the very least (which also can present no symptoms and there aren't even any tests for it for MEN. You only know you have it IF you get symptoms.)

If I read one more personal ad in the universe where a person describes themselves as "clean" I'm going to throw up. People who have std's aren't DIRTY. They're just UNLUCKY. You can have only ONE or a hundred sex partners and acquire an STD. THAT is a FACT. It isn't directly tied to or caused by promiscuity, although certainly having sex with a lot of people increases your odds for picking up any std OR communicable diseases and there are many.

No, I don't.

Au contraire, I'm still around. Just because I don't post in the forums doesn't mean I don't check on this place.
