The subjects on this week’s TIME cover aren’t models in pose. Jamie Lynne Grumet, photographed by Martin Schoeller with her 3-year-old son, is a mother from Los Angeles who subscribes to attachment parenting, the subject of staff writer Kate Pickert’s cover story. Attachment parenting has been on the rise over the last two decades, since the publication of The Baby Book by Dr. Bill Sears and his wife, Martha, in 1992. Its three main tenets are extended breast-feeding, co-sleeping and “baby wearing,” in which infants are physically attached to their parents by slings.

and no doubt she will be surprised when he is still living in her basement at age 40.

totally creeped out...there's a reason babies get teeth..they are supposed to start eating..Give him a sippy cup if he's thirsty at at his apparent age a glass?
poor kid ...this cover will follow him for ever :(

Time magazine at a checkout line?

You are in an alternate reality for sure.

Yeah - it's called 1978. He's fucking old.

Per the cover: expect to see more controversial mag covers like this one from here on out. It's the final gasp of an entire industry. Magazines are already dead.

Not everyone does their grocery shopping at the seed and feed store, monkey boy.

Major chain stores like Kroger, Walmart and Target often display magazines with risque cover images in special racks that conceal everything but the title; in extreme cases they may refuse to carry the magazine altogether.

Idiot.

Will Time's Breastfeeding Cover Be Bad For Business?

Time Ragazine still has business?

Do they have MORE or LESS readers than MSNBC has viewers:confused:

If Canadians can call a tiny depiction of the Vimy memorial with naked women carved in stone on the $20 bill porn, then this is porn.

And you know everything done by Canadians is righteous and should be emulated.

Reminiscent of the scene in the comedy movie Grown Ups - where the similar aged breast fed kid points to a woman in a restaurant and says "I want some of hers"

The US is so fucking Victorian it's sad! I nursed all 3 of my kids until they were ready to wean. 1st was to 9 months and he was done. 2nd was a snuggler and went til I was 3 months preggers with #3 (2.7 years). I had trouble with 3 latching on so he was a bottle kid from the start. Made me sad, but I still pumped and had a few bedtime nursings with #2 to keep the demand going.

Allegedly (don't read Time, don't care) the kid in the pic is 4. That doesn't seem exceptionally late to me, but again I believe in child-led weaning. This IS the primary function for tits, people, get a grip! If an onlooker thinks it's 'dirty' that's his (or hers) problem, not mine. I never got hassled in public, but I would gleefully go lawsuit if someone did.

I'm the furthest thing from a prude and even I find this disturbing. The boy needs to be weaned off. That's the point of the "weaning" process. It's not about anything smutty and everything about self-reliance and healthy child development, instead of coddling and artificially prolonging the various stages of childhood. Some hard knocks in life are good for the soul and help strengthen character. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned that way.
