I know China has a population problem and girl babies are undesirable, but has it really come down to finding a way to make money from killing them?

Secondly, what kind of benefit can be had from ingesting it? The whole question of widespread disease is just begging to happen. The Chinese certainly don't adhere to the same quality controls of purity everyone else does.
