So I'm flying on a plane and sitting next to me is a nicely dressed woman with blue flats with wholwhite poka dots. Anyway, the top of her foot is exposed down to her toes. You can see the tops of her toes and the beginnings of the little slits between them.

Is this called toe cleavage or does it go by foot crack or toe slit?

No I don't like this look. If you want to show toes get open toes shoes or wear sandles I don't really want to see your veiny foot down to four little toe cracks. They often make it look like you have abnormally long toes. Like long fingers tucked into the pointy ends of the shoes. Also, they look like your shoes are about to fall off. Are they really stlyish, a fashion faux pas or did some designer decided to save some money on leather.

I have heard it referred to as toe cleavage. And yes though I cannot be sure without a picture, I believe the shoes you are describing are in style currently. Are they all closed off except for the toes exposed? Like peek a toe?

I think a toe peak would be better. Then it wouldn't look like an accident or stingeness on the paet of the designer.

Clevage is defined as "a state of being cleft", cleft being a hollow area or indentation. So toe cleavage would be an apt description of exactly what you're seeing. I remember the first time I heard it referred to as toe cleavage. I still laugh when I think about it.
