Romney goes to Detroit, takes personal credit for the auto industry's recovery

Wow, this is a truly shameless lie. And after two weeks of whining about Obama talking excessively about bin Laden, he honestly said "I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back?"

I don't think talking about how many NASCAR owners he knows helped sell a single car.

Don't forget:
In the Republican world of today,
Black is White, Up is Down

Seen through the proper lens, it all makes sense. :D

Pinpoint where it actually say that. I don't believe you.

paragraph 2

"I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet," Romney said in an interview inside a Cleveland-area auto parts maker. "So, I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back."

A month or two ago, wasn't he bitching about Obama saving GM, and saying that he would have let it die?

There are liars, damn liars, and Mittens!

ETA: And the words for a daily 300-word challenge are "Bubble, Money, and Ice"

Shameless is really the perfect word. Jaw-dropping really. And I think the voters in Ohio and Michigan are going to see him as a phony for it.

It's right there in the article I linked for you.

On Monday, the presumed Republican presidential candidate went so far as to say, "I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry's come back."

"My own view, by the way, was that the auto companies needed to go through bankruptcy before government help. And frankly, that's finally what the president did. He finally took them through bankruptcy. That was the right course I argued for from the very beginning," Romney said in an interview with WEWS-TV in Cleveland.

Romney blamed President Obama and the United Auto Workers for delaying the idea of bankruptcy. "I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done and help was given, the companies got back on their feet," he said.

Video of him saying it, about halfway through.

But it also says:

The course Romney advocated differed greatly from the one that was ultimately taken. GM and Chrysler went into bankruptcy on the strength of a massive bailout that Romney opposed. Neither Republican President George W. Bush nor Democratic President Barack Obama believed the automakers would have survived without that backup from taxpayers.

Romney opposed taxpayer help.

"If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye," Romney wrote in a November 2008 opinion article in the New York Times. "It won't go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed."

General Motors posted a record profit last year.

Romney has repeatedly argued that Obama ultimately took his advice on the auto industry's woes of 2008 and 2009. But he went further on Monday by saying he deserves credit for its ultimate turnaround.

Why does Romney think Obama took his advice on saving the auto industry in 2008? Is there any evidence that Senator Obama was listening to some unemployed GOP professional fundraiser on economic matters?

I can't believe he actually had the balls to come into our backyard and spew this bullshit. If he double-talked any faster, his tongue would snap off.

And the sad part? The people listening to him bought it hook, line, and sinker. And they have the nerve to call democrats 'brainwashed'.

You know Romney was hardcore about not bailing out Detroit, because he was against it even when it was a Bush administration policy.

Hey, you have a long enough career in public life, you're going to make some bad calls on occasion. He bet against the American people, and he lost. But man, at least have the decency to own up to your error.

Republicans seems to consider real-life history a sort of first draft in need of editing.

By the way I'll take a lot of credit for killing Bin Laden. I was saying it was a good idea for years and it looks like Obama took my advice.

Not many politicians will do that. Once in a while you get one that'll admit it but more often than not they either lie or spin it. In this case he probably should have just stayed silent as much as possible. Nothing good would come out of him talking about it.

don't tell me you are a fucktard democrat? if so, how sad for you

Romney's problem isn't that he flip-flopped. It's that he did it at least three times. His current position on the auto industry bears no resemblance to 2008. Nor does is it anything like his position in March of this year.

He's come way too far to stay silent at this point. So he's covering all his bases by taking every position on the issue at the same time.

you are a true cowboy. only instead of wrestling cows, you wrestle up some great bullshit. if you would only spend 1/2 the time here on GB tossing out the Merc BullShit idea of the day and focus on work, then maybe You could be successful.

the reason why you are what you are, and where you are in life, is due to your limited though capacity.

you are 100% OCD republican. is it out of jealousy?
