As Newt Quits, Paul Keeps Grabbing Delegates...

. . . "Delegate strategy"? Are you fucking delusional? The Pubs are going to gather in Tampa in August and hail Mitt Romney as The Next President of the United States, which he won't be, and no one will hear from Paul the whole convention.

Well duh....you really think they are going to allow anyone who won't toe the line like a good lil party hack up for POTUS? fuck no...if paul were to get in and really be the steadfast stick in the eye of corporatism and socialism he claims to and has a strong record of being, he would be assassinated in no time.

No one would bother. Even Dennis Kucinich has more to fear from assassins.

The fat lady has sung for all but two...

...and the good doctor seems to be just getting his second wind.

They will make him give them back. The GOP knows it's a lost cause, but a Paul loss would be a disaster. They want to have some dignity left for 2016.

The candidate of principle. Not a chance in 17 hells of winning, but he'll keep taking your money, thanks, and he'll let you think you're going to get something from it.

The best con men make you glad you gave them your money, even after you find out you were taken. It seems he can count the OP among his happy marks.

"Suspending" a campaign--as opposed to ending it--is a bit of legal needle-threading that lets you keep the money in your campaign chest instead of paying it back. It's a lie told with a wink: you know, we know, and God knows that you're really ending your campaign. But you still call it "suspending" so you can keep the bread.

We can count on the candidate of principle "ending" his campaign as opposed to suspending it, so he can give back the money he's been raising on the false promise of magically becoming the GOP nominee.

Right?

Democrat supporters always claim they are going to win ahead of elections. Its a bizarre phenomena. The did the same thing all over the internet in 2000 and 2004. I remember Yahoo boards in 2004 before the election, them laughing, declaring victory, saying "its all over GOP" weeks before the election. I suppose when you predict the same thing every time, sometimes you're right. Doubt they will be this year though. Obama himself knows he's in big trouble, hence all the wedge issues and other baloney. In reality, I've said before, and I'll say again, however, it will come down to the economy, or rather the perception of it, in November. The rest is noise, but Obama is in a far worse position than he should be at this point and internally the DNC knows it.

Pathetic the first time you posted this non-sense, more pathetic the 50th time.

And frankly, if Paul can use the money to promote his ideals, I'm sure that's fine with most of his supporters even if he doesn't win.

Maybe that's the way to go, though . . . Goldwater's disaster in '64 made Nixon look sensible by comparison (which was no illusion) in '68.

Meanwhile...

...Dr. Paul's rabid supporters have gotten the dire attention of the rinos in Nevada...again!

In 2008, the Nevada GOP flat-out stopped the Republican State Convention when it became clear Paul supporters were commandeering it...

...now, the Republic National Committee, portending a similar fate awaiting this year's state convention which begins tomorrow in Sparks, is threatening to bar all Nevada's legally elected delegates from the Republican National Convention in August unless they more favorably represent the rinos' preferred Statist-in-Chief candidate, Milt the Wilt Romney.

While Wilt is thought to have won 20 of the 28 slots available in Nevada, rino officials fear that the delegates that take them will ignore party rules by voting for Paul over Romney during the first round of balloting.

:D

And a quick note to 36-year and favorite Obama Republican Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana:

Yes...

...that is the fat lady singing.

AUGUSTA — In a major upset, Ron Paul supporters narrowly won the chairmanship of the Maine Republican Convention today.

The vote came after Paul supporters elected Ron Morrell secretary. Morrell got 1,119 votes out of 2,204 to be elected convention secretary.

Paul supporters are here in large numbers, with more than 500 having attended an organizational meeting last night and even more here today, said Matthew McDonald, a Waldo delegate and Paul supporter.

Those who support Paul are hoping to get at least 13 delegates, which would be a majority of those chosen for the national convention.

The chairman controls the meeting, including who can speak and what happens to procedural motions that are made. Because of that, the chairman can have a huge impact on the outcome of the convention and who is elected as delegates.

The upset is also a blow to Mitt Romney's campaign, which shows he has yet to be fully embraced by Maine Republicans.

Ron Paul wins majority of Nevada delegates

Despite former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney’s overwhelming victory in the Nevada caucuses, Texas Rep. Ron Paul has won a majority of the state’s delegates to the party’s national convention later this year in Tampa, Florida.

Thanks to organized Paul supporters, who have been working to increase their candidate’s support at state conventions around the country, 22 of the 25 Nevada delegates up for grabs will be Paul supporters. (Another three are automatic delegates.)

Ron Paul wins most of Maine's delegates

AUGUSTA, Maine - With Mitt Romney’s GOP presidential nomination all but decided, Ron Paul supporters took control of the Maine Republican Convention and elected a majority slate supporting the Texas congressman to the GOP national convention, party officials said.

In votes leading to the close of the two-day Maine convention, Paul supporters were elected to 23 of the 24 delegate spots from Maine to the GOP national convention in Tampa, Fla. The 24th delegate’s seat goes to party Chairman Charles Webster, who has remained uncommitted throughout the process.

Making the Paul takeover complete was the election of Paul supporters to a majority of the state committee seats.

Ron, Rand Paul hold joint tea party rally in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Ron Paul told thousands of supporters in his home state Sunday that they "have infiltrated the Republican Party" in the name of liberty.

The GOP presidential hopeful and congressman from Lake Jackson near Texas' Gulf Coast appeared with his son Rand, a U.S. senator from Kentucky, outside the Texas Capitol. Members of the rally crowd screamed themselves hoarse while sweating under the unrelenting afternoon sun.

"The revolution is working," the elder Paul said. "We have infiltrated the Republican Party and we will convert the Republican Party into defenders of Liberty."

As a resident of Tampa, I'm still hoping all this will somehow turn into political street-riots at the Republican National Convention in August! Just like Chicago in '68, only sillier! :D

Right?

We have our answer. He suspended. 1.2 Mill in the warchest, that he gets to keep. Plus a cryptic comment about how, to be competitive, he'd need a lot more money going forward.

The only difference between suspending now and suspending a month ago is that he has more of your money now. He didn't have a shot then, and knew it. Nothing else has changed, except he's grabbed more delegates in the mean time. More delegates = less of a shot? And I thought his whole sell was he was running a lean campaign and would hang in to contest at the RNC no matter what, since he had a ninja delegate-stealing scheme, and could do it cheap?

No. The only difference is, one more month = many more $'s.

The Candidate of Principle has left the building. "Temporarily," of course, since he only suspended. Wink, wink.

I once said that I liked some of Paul's ideas.

Upon reconsideration, that's the same thing Hitler said about the thoughts of Heydrich and Himmler.

Fortunately, Paul is far less harmless.

Actually, it appears I spoke too soon. Paul is now explicitly asking people to donate through the convention.

Once a conman, always a conman.

(And for all you supporters: once a dupe, always a dupe.)

Ron Paul Isn't Dropping Out, Spokesman Says

May 15, 2012, npr

Republican Ron Paul is not shuttering his presidential campaign, his chief strategist says in a memo sent this morning to supporters and the news media.

"Let me be very clear," said Jesse Benton, "Dr. Paul is NOT dropping out or suspending his campaign."
...
Benton, in his memo, urged supporters to remain active and continue to donate to the campaign in an effort to ensure that Paul goes to Tampa with a "solid group of delegates."
