If God truly exists and the Bible was factual would you change your lifestyle in hopes of an afterlife in heaven? <OR> would you continue to be the depraved asshole you are now and face an eternity of suffering in Hell?

Try to be honest and not mimic the Godless cool kids with your answer.

The only thing appealing about Heaven is that it is not Hell; I'm sure I would not enjoy either. Why can't there be a third option?!

I AM the godless cool kid.

And I go with hell. I've read that book, and Hell is just Earth after god abandons it for the new Heaven & the New Earth, but it's all of fire and earthquaked and shit. I'm much cooler with that then getting to be a servant- the actual promise that's made in the bible. Heaven sounds like it kinda sucks. It's not white fluffy clouds and harps and shit, it's literally serving god. Just like how Hell's not all fire and brimstone, if you take a direct biblical translation, it's just a bunch of sinners who are supposed to regret not being cool enough to hang out with god.

Dude, we aren't gonna do that. We're gonna sin the fuck out of everything. Those with sin still have morality. It's not gonna be the bachanal that you folk think it is. We're not gonna be looting and killing for more then like, a month. We'll just be significantly less annoyed by Christians.

And it's not like, an instant thing either. The bible strait up says that hell doesn't even EXIST until after the rapture. Souls get summoned up via angelic trumpets. It's not like you die and then you get judged right then. You've got a while. We all go together.

And, I've always thought the thing sounded to much like a bad PR stunt. That's one of the main reasons that I can't commit to it.

If Heaven was as depicted, that'd mean there'd be no pain there. Without the sensation of pain, pleasure would become neutral. Hence, no pleasure.

Constant suffering without pleasure would also even out. So much for Hell.

Could my Heaven be whatever I want it to be?

Are you and people like you planning on being there and interacting with me? If so, I'll start worshipping Satan immediately.

Eternity is a long time anywhere. In a place free of pain, challenge, leisure, plenty, etc. would become boring very quickly.

IF heaven and hell are real, I have no say in which I'll end up.
Plus, I'll be dead, so I can't imagine I'll care that much.

Hell is the absence of God and the word of God. It's the Void.
Heaven is not described very well at all but is generally considered to be a state of eternal bliss in the presence of God.
Any attempt to understand either is in vain since the concept of eternity alone is beyond any real understanding much like the concept of God as He would have to be is. We try to make it something we can understand but in doing so we get things like the Biblical streets of gold and mansions and such.

That doesn't even make sense. If they are real then you most certainly would care when you are dead.

Oy... now she's going to tell us about the time she was thrown off the yacht by a band of pirates and drowned, after being shot in the head. And how she went up to heaven and gave God a tongue lashing so bad he had to send her back.

I, the me that is existing now, won't care.
The ethereal 'me' after I die might - but that won't be the same as the 'me' I am now.

Nope... I just keep pluggin' along, came close a few times to "biting the bullet" and going to the other side, wherever THAT is... Now, I'm pretty set in my ways... don't really believe in all the religious hype, just too many fakes out there trying to squeeze a buck out whoever they can get to reach into their pocket... to "support" god... but I do believe in karma... what goes around comes around.

As far as continuing on as the depraved asshole... define depravity... can impure thoughts be counted? Hmmmm... now THAT'S a topic for a new thread...

*laugh out loud* Amen! :D

That made more sense than the answer she actually gave.

After reading this, it occurs to me that I might actually go to heaven, if it exists.
Because despite what some of you lot think, I live a genuine and truthful life. I don't harm others and so far as I know, have never broken any of those commandments set down by 'God'.

She said today her son was born without fat cells. That family must be inbred for hundreds of years.

Funny you mention those Ten Commandments... I looked 'em up. It appears I won't be accepted at those "Pearly Gates" if they do exist. I haven't exactly adhered to numbers 3, 4, 7, & 10.

Hell is the absence of God and the word of God. It's the Void.

That is the normal state of being for almost all living things at all times -- all nonhuman organisms, and most humans, and all children too young to distinguish God from Santa.

Also take note that nowhere in there is a "thou shall not rape" ...just sayin.
