Perhaps you should read more closely. I specifically referenced the How To boards and their specific cultures. Which, to my knowledge, have generally been no wank fishing zones since at least 2006, when I first started lurking on Lit. Unless I'm in the mood and specifically go looking for it, I don't want all the fapping in the background. And given the frequency and forthrightness with which other female HT regulars defend this board against wank threads, I'm hardly alone in that sentiment. There's a REASON we prefer to hang our hats here, rather than elsewhere on Lit.

I've always found it useful to lurk for a bit and learn the lay of the land before jumping in with both feet. That way, I understand the do's and don'ts of a particular group, board, what have you. Obviously, you can choose to do otherwise, but then you hardly have cause to get your feelings hurt when you put a foot wrong and someone else points out your faux pax.
