your future, to be more precise.

do you think about where you want to be, where you're scared of being, where you'll likely be? do you daydream and plan or ponder?

what do you see?

i don't. i don't see anything at all.
i've always been that way. whenever, as a child, i was asked about ''when you grow up'' i hadn't a clue how to respond.
there are fun/cool things i would like to be doing again, but nothing with a shape.

Well I've done that since I was a child and when the present catches up it's never been anything I imagined. I kind of hope it continues the same way; all unknowable.

how far apart are the imaginings and the reality?
is the reality better?

I know that I'm happier with my present than I have ever been. I think I have a pretty good idea of what my immediate future looks like, but to be honest, life beyond 6 months is a bit hazy.

6 months is pretty damn good! i can't even do a whole week's grocery shopping. i struggle to see past dinner time today.

...which means a lot of shit doesn't get done. no planning ahead.

When they asked me "What do you want to be when you grow up," I always said "an adult."

I'm still working on it. :)

I could die tomorrow, so I prefer to live in the now.
But occasionally I allow myself to imagine my future... knowing that every time I have done so, the reality has been nothing like I imagined.

I see special needs in my future.

I find that if I focus less on what I'm doing in the future, the present is usually taken care of. I have a pretty good idea of where I want to be, what I want to be doing but it's flexible. I have had to learn to go with the flow as much as possible.

I have five year goals, a ten year plan and 20 year dreams.

sometimes the black space ahead is kinda daunting. i have moments of thinking i just hope it all works out, somehow. but mostly i'm just a poohstick.

I don't have a plan for myself. Never had, prob never will, but for the spawn of my loins, I have lots of plans for them. Not they they seem to care for my ideas...

Arrrrgh...I'm a planner and I work to 5, 10, 20+ year plans. You're lucky to see the micro plan (dinner time and all) as I am tied up with the macro which can be a bit boring at times.

No direction further than two months. Experience what happens when it does. Ready to spin on a dime.

Has served me well so far.

see, i KNOW they'll be in my life but i don't have plans beyond the regulated (applying for schools on time & shit) and i don't imagine their futures.

i just try to prepare them for whatever shows up.

Example of my planning -

Daughter - So how am I to pay for the college I will need to be a lawyer?

Me - Get thee out to the street corner my child.

Yes. I want to be retired with time and money to travel anywhere we want to go.

Scared of one of us not living long enough to retire with time and money to travel anywhere we want to go. Wouldn't be nearly as much fun without my spouse and I think he'd say the same thing.

Where we'll likely be? Traveling. Maybe not to all the places it woud be cool to go, but traveling for sure. And hopefully together with my husband for a good many years.
