A snarky tweet sent by Obama campaign manager Jim Messina intended to jab Republicans over weak Latino support backfired when dozens of Latino Republicans fired back at Messina about his racially-insensitive use of the term “chimichanga.” “The chimichanga? It may be the only thing Republicans have left to offer Latinos,” Messina tweeted.





Messina was quoting a Dana Milbank line that was used in a column titled “Does the GOP care about Latino voters?”

Univision’s Jordan Fabian called the message “eyebrow-raising” and noted that many Republicans of Latin descent lit into Messina for using what they perceived to be a “culturally-insensitive” even “racist” terminology, demanding he apologize.

“The fact that the campaign manager of President Obama’s reelection campaign thinks it’s appropriate to disseminate insulting jokes about the Hispanic community is a perfect example of the kind of empty rhetoric that characterizes this White House’s so-called outreach to Latinos. We demand that Mr. Messina immediately apologize and we ask that President Obama disavow his campaign manager’s ridiculous statement,” said Jennifer Sevilla Korn, executive director of the conservative Hispanic Leadership Network, according to The Hill’s Justin Sink.

I've not seen Vette post anything overtly racist, and I don't have a huge interest in the forum lynching crime of "accessory to racism," personally. Vette's overt bigotry lies in other directions, particularly toward gays.

I don't know that Ish is particularly racist, either. The only overtly racist stuff I recall him posting was directed at LT, and clearly meant to make him go on one of his insane multi-month tantrums, which it did. I would never use such a lever, but I suppose it did give Ish a fair amount of leverage.

There's no question that busybody is. He genuinely believes that black people are inferior to whites and jews. It's woven into the fabric of his psyche, an important part of his world view, and no amount of science or reason will allow him to see otherwise.
