Click user CP at the top of the page. There will be a menu along the left side. Click edit avatar then upload. The image must be 150 X 150 Pixels or smaller or it won't upload.

I have just completed the following, step by step:
As I originally stated, Click on FAQ, I failed to mention ALL the steps.
You’ll get a drop down
Click on General Forum Usage, you’ll get another drop down with three sections
In the top section, titled User Maintenance, go to the 7th bullet point; How do I add a custom status to my profile?
THAT will tell you what to do.

You’ll get a drop down
Click on General Forum Usage, you’ll get another drop down with three sections
In the top section, titled User Maintenance, go to the 7th bullet point; How do I add a custom status to my profile?
THAT will tell you what to do.
The seventh bullet point is missing one crucial piece of information without which you can't change your title no matter how hard you try.

Save a pic on your computer. When it asks in that box to browse for a pic, click browse. Choose a pic that you've downloaded.
Now if you want to do an attachment, I'm still lost on that one.

I've tried that attachment help, apparently I have a mobile skin or something. I don't know. The box for uplinking to an attachment is all greyed out.

Absolutely true, it just wont work for the OP as she/he/it doesn't have the required number of posts to add an avatar and reading that particular FAQ wont tell her/him/it anything about that.
