I'm heading up to a friends cabin and going to cook up a few gallons of 'shine' just for the hell of it. Then roam around the NM-CO border region for a while scouting some areas for Elk hunting and doing some trout fishing.

Actually I intend to spend a lot of time up in the high country this summer.

They want to "re-introduce" Wapiti into Missourah, and for the life of me, I cannot understand why; the deer seem to be doing a fine job of culling automobiles now that we've conserved their numbers upwards...

They cannot, for the life of them figure out what to do with them in town; the usual suspects don't want Bambi's mother killed. They agreed to ban feeding them, but decided that mineral licks could still remain.

Absolutely for real. There's a spring on the property that runs year round with the coldest, purest water you've ever let touch your lips. The spring fills a 400 gal. cistern and the overflow goes into a pond and then back into the ground to reappear about a mile downhill. Soooo, you use the fresh water for the cooker and let the cistern overflow cool the condenser coils. If I can find some small oak barrels I'll even try aging my own bourbon.

Beautiful, beautiful country up there. Unfortunately more and more people are 'discovering' it every year. One of the tricks to culling the herd is to send them to Taos to shop. Empties their wallets real quick and sends them packing.
