and you have report (on a News program) that a crime was committed by an individual. Witnesses reported to the Police that the individual looked Indian (as in Curry Indian, not Casino Indian).

As a News-person (in the US), how do you convey to the audience the description individual so that the audience can be on the look-out for said individual?

I guess this really was a brain teaser. Just try to describe someone to an audience, from a news-person perspective, that the person is a "curry" Indian and not an American Indian (a.k.a. Casino Indian). Cannot be done.

Isn't standard in the news to use PC monikers like Native American? That leaves Indian for the Indians.

South-central Asian, possibly from the Indian sub-continent.

Not to mention dot heads look nothing like red skins. Dot heads have darker skin on average. Red Skins tend to have rounder eyes and a different jaw structure entirely. There is a lot of cross over sure but just like you can tell chinks from dot heads from japs and if you got a good eye you can tell gooks out of that group too. Hell even dune coons can be separated out.

The OP must be . . .ok it's PSW. One of the morons.

No, it's not standard. Zimmerman taught is that since I heard NBC News call him a White-Hispanic But it comes down to knowing the audience. The audience interprets the meaning, and they will interpret Indian as an American Indian... not all the time though. That's what makes it tough.

Sorry, but that was a meaningless statement. Saying "possibly from the Indian sub-continent" means you are telling the audience from the what land the person traveled to come to the US. They could be black "from the Indian sub-continent."

Witnesses say the suspect is a dark-skinned apparently Asian man, possibly Indian.

No. Zimmerman taught us that the right wing understands that browns killing browns is okay and they desperately tried to force the hispanic term on him. The MSM cowards that they are met halfway and called him a white hispanic. Which is a little like calling someone a black Christian or a white Muslim.

Zimmerman, by way of the NY Times, taught us that Zimmerman was a White-Hispanic. The Times coined the phrase.

Only issue is Americans do not equate Asia with curry Indians. They'll be thinking "dark skinned Asian? Like Tiger Woods? Damn, I bet some black sailor knocked up a Korean or Japanese woman. Dumb-ass news. Indians ain't Asian. Honey. Hon... the news just called someone 'Indian.' You think they mean the Indians that own Casinos, or Indians that own 7-elevens?"

No they didn't. The term has been around and on official government documents for decades.

I'll clarify. What I meant was the NY Times stated it in the news, and a few other news organizations followed suit. I've never heard the term White Hispanic in the news to describe someone. Never. But I've seen it on government forms, etc.

In that sense, NY Time did not originally coin the phrase. I should have said they used an old term in a new way... which they did. Thankfully, I no longer hear the term White Hispanic on the news. Guess the news organizations realized their error.

Like I said it was the Times deciding to split the difference when the Right Wing whites start screaming, HE'S NOT ONE OF US, in a desperate attempt to make this brown on brown violence which is politically acceptable not white on black violence which is something that is not politically acceptable.

Where did you get that from? Black on Back crime is a serious issue. Cons are generally surprised that Sharpton and Jackson say nothing about it, but crawl out of the woodwork for White on Black crime. Cons (and Libs and Indies) saw an old mugshot of Zimmerman, and a very old shot of Trayvon. Trayvon looked like, what, 12 in those images? Then the media called Zimmerman white.

"Hi, am I white?"

EDIT: Any news organization willing to "split the difference" is not a news organization that I'll frequent.

Bullshit black on black crim is considered a major problem in America. Nobody cares, it doesn't make the news, we simply accept it as part of what happens on Tuesday. Some black or mexican kills some black or mexican. We don't even really care if they get away with it. That's just how things are in America. Considering two more unarmed blacks have been gunned down, both by cops no less, since Zimmerman we don't even really care when whites kill blacks if they aren't sufficiently cute and as long as there is at least a semblance of law enforcement giving a fuck.

Since you won't be frequenting any news sources from now on I hope you'll stop posting.

Ya know, there is a lot of White on White crime that gets reported... just like black on black, and Hispanic on Hispanic. When the races are the same, the news does not cover it in detail... but they give it a quick blurb on the news. That's the fact.

Mix the races, and boy oh boy, everyone salivates.

No they don't. Black on Mexican crime is still brown on brown and usually doesn't make the news. You really do require a white to make the news and usually as the aggressor.

Both. A little more on Americans in general but since the media produces what sells you can't blame them alone. It's like complaining about the lack of mexican super heroes. Shit I honestly can't think of a single Mexican super hero. Storm, Spawn and Blade are black (and well known). . .shit I can't think of any top tier Asians either. (Note not from Japan but Asian there are no natural blondes in Asia so Naruto and Sailor Moon are whites who happen to live in Asia) No Indians (Native or otherwise) so on and so forth.

So its a little bit of both.
