The billionaire Warren Buffet's company, Berkshire Hathaway, has been in a years-long legal battle with the Internal Revenue Service over what the IRS says are past taxes not paid; some have said the total amount of back taxes owed may total $1 billion.

Framed as a federal transportation concern, deep within its bowels lies a provision that allows the IRS to have passports of Americans accused of owing back taxes of $50,000 or more revoked...
...that's right: if the IRS simply alleges you owe back taxes of $50,000, this Senate-passed bill gives the federal government the power to flat-out revoke your passport - no innocent until proven guilty, no judicial process at all.
S. 1813 now moves to the Republican-majority House where it is expected to pass just as easily...
