President Barack Obama called Tuesday for greater federal oversight of oil markets, his latest effort to head off market manipulation as gas prices stay high ahead of the peak summer months.

“We can’t afford a situation where some speculators can reap millions while millions of American families get the short end of the stick. That’s not the way the market should work,” Obama said in a Rose Garden speech, laying out a $52 million proposal largely aimed at beefing up the Commodities Future Trading Commission’s oversight and enforcement of the oil and gas markets.

First of all to play in the commodity markets is to speculate. That's exactly what those markets are all about. Abama's got about as much savvy about what's going on as a fucking amoeba.

The major players will just switch their trades to the DME market out of Oman, a market that has been building recently or the new market that China announced they were opening within the past 36 hours. Obviously they plan are scarfing up the traders that Obama intends to chase out of the US markets.

And after he chases the energy traders out of the US markets what's his next move going to be, corn, wheat, soy beans, precious metals? If he's after speculators why not go after them all?
