Due to the limitations of local Hockey broadcasts I have not really seen much of the Pens. Twice earlier in the season, without Crosby, and did not think they were that impressive really. I think the Leafs won one and lost the other in the SO. He might be the difference between mediocre and contender for the team. (?)

If the NHL wanted to clean some of the crap out of the game they could do so.

Crosby is a whiny puke, but he's not the problem with that team. Supremely talented, great work ethic. I'll take him any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Same with Malkin. And whoever said Malkin isn't a cheap shot is delusional.

The problem with that team is they have one great scoring line, one decent scoring line, then nothing. And right now Couterier owns Malkin, who only has two secondary assists, and Crosby's getting shut down by Shenn.

Their defense is in the same boat. Once you get past Letang and Orpik, they're average to terrible. All Bryzgalov has to do is be better than Fleury, which isn't too hard in this series. MAF couldn't stop a beach ball.

I have to agree with this. Making someone a Captain means they exemplify what you want your team to be. If that's what Pitt's admin wants them to be then they are screwed and I've lost all respect for them.

There was a time when the players policed themselves. If someone went after Bobby Clarke, they knew they'd have to face Dave Schultz, not a pleasant thing. If anyone went after Wayne Gretzky, Dave Semenko was in their face. That's gone now, and players can cheap shot and head hunt because there's no fear of retribution. That's why there's fighting.

Instead, we have this fucktard league meting out discipline based on injury, not intent.

The game has gotten 10 times faster and the players 10 times bigger. A cheap shot today can result in serious injury whereas even 20 years ago it was considered part of the game. Why are we seeing more thuggery? Money. It brings in the Nascar fans.

Both true, but the fact that a guy like Neal would have been held accountable by a guy like Craig Berube would have made him think twice before he went head hunting.

It might bring out the NASCAR fans, but in the end it will cost the league. Marian Hossa was carried off last night. Raffi Torres left his feet on that one. If the stars keep getting knocked out, what's left to watch?

Then there's that idiot Crysby, who had concussion issues. What does he do? He puts himself in situations where somebody's going to end his career.

Come to think of it, the league might be better off. He's the poster child for everything wrong with the game.
