I totally understand your sense of outrage at how some white people talk here. To be totally honest, the first time I read some of the racist language, I was completely gobsmacked - I'd never experienced anyone talking to/about others in that way for real and to be honest, I still don't know how to react to it properly.

The thing is though, the only way to fight intolerance is by more tolerance, not less. So evesdream is right - using the same abusive language back won't work and you'll just end up pushing people away who would normally be your allies.

Right, but you ignore the institutionalized racism that white people deal with every day, from affirmative action to complete lack of ANY heritage months, history museums, or ethnic studies programs. Why does every other imaginable group get a history month except for the white community? Oh, that's right we don't really exist, we're a man-made "construct." Even our very existence is questioned in the MAINSTREAM of society.

So, that is why I don't really care about anti-non-white racist posting from a tiny fringe on internet sites. I don't support such postings or such language, and I can appreciate it might hurt the feelings of some people, and I wish people wouldn't post such things (just as I wish they wouldn't post curse words or blasphemies either). On the other hand, in the great scheme of things, I'm a lot more concerned about the lack of heritage months and ethnic museums for white people than about a tiny fringe of people on internet sites posting slurs.
