If that somehow disagrees with your politics, then maybe you should ask yourself why. Or refute what they're saying with the opinions of other experts. Well, yeah; when I read something about how a whole shitload of experts agree on a particular idea, I generally think, "Huh. I didn't know that," or "That's what I always thought," or something like that. It doesn't occur to me to think, "I have to come up with a lot of shit to discredit this idea as fast as I can because my political party might lose power if people believe the experts." I keep forgetting that the derpfruit prime directive is "peddle the horseshit, especially if someone is telling the truth."

It is a social science (like polysci, sociology, anthropology); and many natural scientists (physicists, chemists, biologists, etc.) deny that social sciences are "sciences" at all.

I'm not sure on which side of that divide psychology is placed.

That's what I was thinking. Apparently Miles To Go Before I Sleep is in the camp that doesn't see social sciences as "real" sciences. I think that if you use the scientific method to study the topic, it probably qualifies as science.

ETA: I have a good friend who's a Ph.D in social psych, and he says he's a scientist. It was funny when SeanH posted on my FB wall that psychology isn't science, and the friend professor saw it...
