Down Goes Santorum

Santorum delegate count: 252.

Ron Paul delegate count: 45.

Santorum has too few delegates to have a reasonable chance of winning or even contesting at the convention, and is dropping out.

Paul, the candidate of principle, is continuing to take donations on the false premise that he can pull off a delegate miracle at the convention.

If Paul "suspends" his campaign--which allows him to keep the people's bread--as opposed to ending it, you will know all you need to know about the candidate of principle.

And then there's Gingrich, who doesn't seem to know that Paul's still in it.

Newt Gingrich tweeted: It is now a 2 person race. Donate now at http://newt.org/donate for the last conservative standing.

The 'donate now' calls at this point in the campaign are simple burglary. They both know they're "suspending" soon enough. All they're doing now is padding their pockets to pay their bills.

Too late for Newt to collect more cash- the cash is being converted into Pay Pal money,
and it is pouring into fake George Zimmerman donation websites.

Why are you people discussing something that you already knew?

It's the little political games Americans like to play.

If it's something negative or laugh-worthy about the opposing political party, it gets posted.

I thought you were a Vietnam vet? You should know all about this.

I saw a few minutes ago where Newt's registration check for the Utah ballot bounced. If his campaign is bouncing $500 checks, he's completely out.

Money Woes Drove Santorum From GOP Race, He Says

In his first interview since dropping his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, Rick Santorum said that losing the Wisconsin primary on April 3 sealed his fate.

"We really felt we had to win in Wisconsin to do well in Pennsylvania" later in the month, he told the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins in a radio interview Thursday.

The campaign for the first time, he said, had taken on debt. And after he lost Wisconsin to Mitt Romney in a close race, "we basically raised no money."

"Money isn't everything in politics," the former Pennsylvania senator said, "but you do have to have enough" to mount an effort.

Gingrich is next. Maybe Friday, since he's news-cycle savvy. I doubt he'll bother to spend as much as he'd need to compete in PA, since he's started bouncing checks now.

The only guy still raising money under the guise of having a shot--complete with fraudulent SuperPAC run out of a UPS Store--is Ron Paul, the candidate of principle. He has an extremely lean operation; he can probably make it to the convention. He will have no influence on the choice of nominee, and his views are not shaping the race in any way, major or minor. But he will continue to take your money just the same.

All these years later, people still love The Big Con.
