It's very common here. The county even built a gathering place for the day laborers... of course, none actually gather there, for obvious reasons.

I drove to the local Home Depot just a few months ago and picked up 4 illegals to come dig up my sprinkler system, and replace all the heads. 4 hours latter, one c note, and one case of beer, the job was done and I was happy.

Private old folks' homes, daycare and assisted living pools hire all the time here. Temping with entry pay. But no education needed for most positions.

The only jobs here are mine related. I've been to the unemployment office 15,000 times, and they try, but they're always completely full and seem shocked when I want a job (rather then unemployment insurance). I've applied for a job a day there, and if you didn't have any priors, you'd probably have one. Unfortunetly, they keep saying, "Yeah, I'm sorry, we're not hiring any thieves/druggies today." And even if you're like, "I'm better! I'll take a drug test right now!" They're like, "Yeah, I'm sure you will, but we aren't paying for a drug test you'll fail!" And then I'm like, "Grrr!!!" But I can't be the only one, because every time I go up there, it's completely full. But all the mines are apparently downsizing, and I've had some really good interviews, until they get my background check. I've even had a couple places say, "You get this shit off your record, and we've got a desk waiting on you." So I looked into it, and the thievery was a "no contest" rather then "guilty" and I can get it taken off (expunged) but it'll be extremely expensive, and I don't have the money. I had a really good interview at an office yesterday, customer service bullshit, but I don't have high hopes. I know that they're gonna get my background check and tell me to fuck right off.

So, life lesson learned. I fucked myself up, bad. But there are always folk filling up the unemployment office, so, I must not be the only one.

If you want a 110% safe college education job wise in Sweden, go for preschool teacher. My sister is half a year from graduating, and she has eleven good job offers pending.
