The Release Charles Manson Now project is a Web-based campaign that encourages supporters to write letters of appeal to Corcoran State Prison.

"There is, in reality, multiple thousands of people who believe in what Manson stands for, and who know he has been wronged," reads a statement on the project's blog. "We must let our numbers be known to the world."

Actually, never mind.

Manson, who has indicated he prefers to remain in prison, didn't participate in his last parole hearing in 2007, complaining that he was a "prisoner of the political system." He isn't expected to attend the hearing this week either.

However, there is this:

"[Manson] has been talking about our problems with the environment since before he got out of prison in '67," Wolf said. (Manson had been behind bars for crimes including armed robbery, auto theft and check forgery since he was a teenager. In 1952, while in reform school, Manson sodomized a boy while holding a razor to this throat.) "And the whole time that he was outside between '67 and '69, he was talking about a rebirth movement.

I believe I saw Charlie in Trapper Creek last weekend.

I've seen him a few times too. Lady P and I were just chuckling at the idea that he gets paroled and becomes a model citizen, doing something innocuous like working at a 7-11 and keeping to himself. Pet cat, a TV.

... or maybe he got a job helping people that were alongside the road.....

:)

Most all the guys who live alone in little remote cabins in the Trapper Creek area look like Charlie.

If he's ever released, he'll be dead within a day.

Good ole Charlie during an interview stated if he ever got out her would kill again. He is an unrepentant psychopath and will never be released.

Go Away, Throb.

no matter how crazy or evil a person, there will always be those who will defend them. and often blindly.

Perg, what is your position on Manson's incarceration. Do you beleive he is a poltical prisoner who deserves to be released?

Not for a second. I believe he is one of those very, very few people who are actually evil and need to be removed from society until they die. I cannot support state-sanctioned executions, but I know there are people who are so dangerous to others and so irredeemable that we need to keep them in a cage.
