What do you think of disabled people?

Do you feel sympathy for the disabled?

What about people with mental disabilities?

If someone has an IQ between 60-80, do you consider them to be less human?

It all depends on the person. If its someone who has a disability, but tries their hardest to live their life as if they have none, I think they're amazing people we should take pointers from. If they do nothing but complain about their disability, over & over & over again, I think they're idiots. So what if you're not a genius...you still have legs that work, arms that move, eyes that see, which is so much more than what others dont. And you've still yet to convince me that your IQ really is that low. You must have one hell of a word program on your computer if you are.

It is not the handicapped persons fault that they are not "normal" as the rest of us. It is "GODs fault. "HE" made 'em that way! I feel compassion ,not only for them, but for all people for having to tolerate his
"Benevolence"

I simply think that they are disabled. I will treat them in the way that is necessary at the time that we interact.

Yep, that's me too. Well said.

The category of "disabled" is too broad to think we can treat everyone the same.

I would treat these people, as I do all people, with the same kind of respect I would like to be given were the situations reversed.

However, I, in no way, believe that we're the 'same'. I mean, specifically for those with a lower IQ. My best friend had a retarded sister that needed a breathing machine to live and contributed very little to the goings-on around her... it was just sad, and you could tell she wasn't happy. It was just the selfish people around her that saw only what they wanted to see, insisted she was just as normal, that kept her in that situation.

It could be said that I'm also selfish, and greedy for the things I have in this lifestyle that would make me say i'd rather die than be in a situation like that but it's the truth. I couldn't live like that. Perhaps it's different when your world is a chair and your perception too diminshed to not know anything other that whats available to you - but is even that truly living?

What about people with IQ's below 100?

You know, if you didn't stick that piece of information in people's faces, 99% of folks would never have a clue.
It's not that some wouldn't notice, it's more like most people just don't care.

I meet all kinds of people I consider to be less than human. Bummer part is i work with most of them.

One of my best friends is a gimp. I really like his handicap parking pass. I jump out of the car, do a couple back flips and when people start pointing and scowling, he flops out and I give them the razzie.

I stole my blind buddy's handicap parking pass...

...he's still looking for it.
