Justice for Trayvon??

Like I said, you don't need an investigation. . .you know what happened

a guy with a gun called 911 complaining of a suspicious person. He chased the suspicious person. 911 told him to stop. He refused (because he had a gun). The situation escalated. He shot and killed an unarmed person. Am I missing something? In 49 states this is murder. In Florida, well they have a habit of letting murderers walk free.

OK folks, just what, in your opinion, constitute 'justice' for Trayvon?

As more facts come to light daily the picture of Trayvon Martin that is forming is considerably different than presented in those 5 year old photographs of a baby faced 12 yr. old.

And the picture that is starting to emerge concerning Zimmerman is not quite the gun happy racist we were led to believe in the initial stories.

So, what is justice for Trayvon?

Ishmael

Justice would be:

The police conduct an investigation, turn their findings over to the county attorney, who decides if the evidence warrants and arrest and trial, and the outcome of a trial.

At this time, the county attorney apparently feels their is not enough evidence to charge Zimmerman with a crime. But, with all the political pressure now, I believe Zimmerman will be charged with something.

I do believe, that if the verdict of any trial of Zimmerman is anything other that guilty, there will be riots.

And just what leads you top notch investigators to believe that no investigation was done? Is it your opinion that because you disagree with the outcome that is prima facie evidence that none was done at all?

Ishmael

As has been pointed out, theres lots of speculation, but the police, besides leaking some facts that they thought would make them look better, havent actually come out and said much.

So .. as far as I know. A child was shot, the police never confiscated the gun, never drug tested the shooter, never photographed his appearance or confiscated his clothes ..

If I were Zimmerman, I would be outraged with the police. Hes claiming it was self defense, and that Trayvon went for his gun and thats why he shot him .. he says he suffered various injuries the worst of which was a broken nose and that his clothes will attest to the struggle he was in for his life.

Its funny how the same people bashing the police will be counting on their votes of their unions this fall. . .gotta love politics. . .

Yes, case closed. . .obviously in FL its legal to kill black teens just cause you feel like it.

If the facts are correct, namely, that Treyvon started the ruckus by breaking Zimmerman's nose, then Zimmerman had the right to protect himself. Have you ever had your nose broken? Painful, and it's difficult to see.

Of course, Zimmerman could have been killed by Treyvon, and we'd all be writing about Zimmerman the schmuck that had a gun but never used it.

I shoulda used the sarcasm font. . .

they also let mothers that kill their child so they can party go free.

the bottom line is this guy was told NOT to pursue by the authorities. He pursued anyway. Why? Because he had a gun. Of course it escalated. He escalated it.

Zimmerman was detained. Maybe some legal-beagle can get specific here but I do believe that the police can hold you for up to 24 hrs before they have to file charges. And they can come back at ANYTIME and file charges within whatever the statute of limitations is.

The police DID want to file manslaughter charges against Zimmerman, it was the State Attorney that declined for the reason that Zimmerman's and the witnesses statements all matched up and he was pretty sure that he wouldn't be able to get a conviction based on the evidence, as a matter of fact he thought the case was vulnerable to a motion for summary dismissal on the part of the defense.

I sincerely doubt that you're going to see anything come down from the federal level. Turns out Zimmerman makes for a poor racist prototype.

I haven't been following the too case closely. Was an investigation done or not? And I'm not talking about the one done at the level of first-responder police.

Everything but the last three sentences matches up with the 911 dispatch taped from that night.

The dispatcher asked "Are you following him?.. Okay, we don't need you to do that." Zimmerman didn't stop following, the situation escalated because he failed to follow the instructions of the 911 dispatcher and continued following the boy. The two ended up fighting. The boy, who by all accounts was unarmed, ended up shot to death by a self proclaimed captain of the neighborhood watch.

I find it humorous, in a "you have to be fucking kidding me" way, that for some reason people are trying to argue that a hispanic person can't be racist against black people. Anyone can be racist, black, white, purple, green.. It's not about the color of the racists skin, it's about their hatred of another person because of the color of THEIR skin.

On what planet do you live on when you are assaulted from behind, suffering a broken nose, bleeding neck, possible concussion from your head being slammed into the ground several times and not go to the hospital?

Or maybe Zimmerman is a secret mutant with a healing factor like Wolverine and didn't wanna his powers to be outed because of the bigotry and racism against mutants in our society. That actually makes sense if you think about it.

I initially heard he went to the hospital the next day, but have not seen that since then. Medical records of his injuries would be advantageous to his claims.

Exactly...why did he disregard the instructions of the 911 dispatcher? Because he had a gun.

When I first heard the story I knew there had to be more to it...As far as actually evidence I have heard of nothing that contradicts Zimmerman statements and understand why the states attorney did not want to take on a case he could not win. With hindsight, I would say he should have taken it to a grand jury and let them decide not to indite. The real question in the case is did Martin attack Zimmerman as he was going back to his car and was Zimmerman in reasonable fear for his life or serious bodily injury. Just because a 911 operator says there is no need for him to follow Martin does not make Zimmerman guilty of anything other than showing bad judgement considering the outcome. With a reasonable doubt standard and no contradicting witnesses or evidence it seems straight forward without the racial element.

The media hype has been disgusting as always and the political motivation before an election to rally a base constituency is obvious. Initially I felt bad for the parents but once they rubbed shoulders with AL Sharpton and Jesse Jackson my sympathy has lessened...

This is a clear case of premeditation. Trayvon made a conscious decision to get off of his couch and walk to a convenience store in an obvious attempt to establish an alibi, then went out looking for a white man to beat.
