What if the soldier is too gravely injured to speak? Perhaps they should have a battlefield advocate from each corporation? Should the military just accept the lowest bidder in this case?

The military isn't socialism because it's not an economic system. It has an economic system, but it's really just part of a larger entity and therefore it's not appropriate to call it socialist/capitalist/etc.

The last army which operated on socialist principles was the Republican Army in the Spanish Civil War. That didn't work out well for them.
