Actor Robert De Niro thrilled the crowd at a New York fundraiser headlined by first lady Michelle Obama when he listed the alternatives.

"Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?" De Niro asked a star-studded crowd gathered in the backroom of Locanda Verde, a restaurant he owns on Greenwich Street in TriBeCa.

Someone in the crowd shouted, "No!" as De Niro quickly added, "Too soon, right?"

Celebrities including Beyonce, her mother Tina Knowles, Star Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Gayle King, Angela Bassett and Ben Stiller were spotted by the pool reporter at the 85-person event, where tickets started at $5,000 per person, benefiting the Obama Victory Fund. Film producer Harvey Weinstein, a bundler who's brought in more than $500,000 in donation and was a guest at last week's White House state dinner for British Prime Minister David Cameron, was also spotted at the event.

TRENDING: Gingrich blasts De Niro for first lady comments

(CNN) – Newt Gingrich delivered a scorching response Tuesday to Robert De Niro's comments Monday night at an Obama for America fundraiser in New York attended by first lady Michelle Obama that America wasn't "ready for a white first lady."

Speaking to a crowd in Shreveport, Louisiana, Gingrich called on President Barack Obama to apologize for the comments that were made at an event organized by his reelection campaign.

While Michelle Obama headlined the event, she was introduced after De Niro's remarks. The event was also attended by a number of other prominent Obama supporters, including Harvey Weinstein and Beyonce.

"Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?" De Niro asked to cheers from the crowd. "Too soon, right?"

Speaking Tuesday, Gingrich labeled the comments "inexcusable."

"I do want to say one thing, both on behalf of my wife and on behalf of Karen Santorum and on behalf of Ann Romney, I think that Robert De Niro's wrong," Gingrich said. "I think the country is ready for a new first lady and he doesn't have to describe it in racial terms."

Gingrich immediately clarified he thought Michelle Obama, along with the wives of his fellow GOP presidential candidates, were all "fine ladies."

"But this is not about the first lady," Gingrich continued. "It's about the president. That's where De Niro missed the whole point. De Niro is rich enough he probably doesn't notice the price of gasoline. He's successful enough he probably doesn't notice the unemployment rate. As the Hollywood actor, he might well be shortsighted enough he doesn't understand what it might do to our children and our grandchildren."

Gingrich called on Obama to apologize for the remarks, since they were made at an event raising money for his reelection.

"What De Niro said last night was inexcusable and the president should apologize for him. It was at an Obama fundraiser, it is exactly wrong, it divides the country," Gingrich said, adding that the left was quick to call out conservative talk show hosts for offensive comments but silent when the vitriol comes from the left.

"If people on the left want to talk about talk show hosts, then everybody in the country should hold the president accountable when someone at his event says something that is utterly and terrible unacceptable as what Robert De Niro said," Gingrich said.

Just imagine if someone said that the country is not ready for a black first lady. Oh my, would the sparks fly after that one!! But then double standards are totally acceptable by liberal thinking since liberals' are on the right side of all political disagreements. At least thats how they act.

Anybody here willing to help pay for a sense of humor implantation for an unnamed right wing whackadoodle?

Every comment (D) is a joke

Every comment (R) is evil

lemme guess

THATS THE STORY?:D

I would not know. I'm a registered Independent, always have been.

The reason this particular comment is humorous is because DeNiro is known for his fondness of darker women, and is married to one. End of story.

And if you were not such a blatant racist, you would see that.

Team Obama Throws De Niro Under The Bus Over White First Lady Comments During Campaign Fundraiser, Says It Was “Inappropriate”…

Beep, beep.

(CNN) – President Barack Obama’s reelection organization said Tuesday it was “inappropriate” for Robert De Niro to joke at a campaign fundraiser in New York Monday that America wasn’t “ready for a white first lady.”

“We believe the joke was inappropriate,” Olivia Alair, Campaign Press Secretary to the First Lady, said in a statement.

The campaign’s comment came after Newt Gingrich delivered a scorching response to De Niro’s comments at an Obama for America fundraiser, which was attended by first lady Michelle Obama.

While Michelle Obama headlined the event, she was introduced after De Niro’s remarks. The event was also attended by a number of other prominent Obama supporters, including Harvey Weinstein and Beyonce.

Samuel L. Jackson To Obama: 'Nigga...Get Scary'

Whether he's locking Martin Luther King's father in a building during a protest at Morehouse or getting rid of "these muthaf*ckin' snakes on this muthaf*ckin plane" Samuel L. Jackson is never afraid to speak his mind.

So when he was asked what he thinks President Barack Obama needs to do if he is re-elected, the actor spoke on it the only way he knows how.

“Obama ain’t scary at all,” Jackson says in an interview with Ebony. “N****s don’t have beers at the White House. N****s don’t let some white dude, while you in the middle of a speech, call [him] a liar. A n***a would have stopped the meeting right there and said, ‘Who the [bleep] said that?’ I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, ‘cause he ain’t gotta worry about getting reelected.”

Prior to that, he admitted that he only voted for Obama because he's a ni**a he was black.

“I voted for Barack because he was black," he says. “’Cause that's why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them. That's American politics, pure and simple; [Obama's] message didn't mean sh*t to me.”

Jackson has never been afraid to speak about the highest office in the land. Last year he offered a bit of sympathy for the president saying that he has "a f*cked up job"

"Being president is one of those fucked-up jobs," he says. "You hope you can figure some shit out and deal with all these hardheaded mother*fuckers and get reelected. Then you can go in and tell motherfuckers to kiss your ass and do what the fuck I say, or I will fuck you up. That’s how you get shit done. That’s the audacity of hope.”

Nobody has to imagine it. It actually happened four years ago.
